Description I suppose she could have gone under textiles...but this will work.

She is about two feet tall, carved in foam rubber, and is painted with acrylics. Her eyes are haindpainted glass from a taxidermy company (i'm not that good yet...) and her whiskers are real (shed by my kitties). Her dress was made by me with various brocade scraps.

Not a big fan of the neck, but otherwise I think out of all the dolls I viewed on your gallery shes one of my favs. I haven't had the chance to navigate through your portion of dev art fully, but do you take commissions for such dolls? whats a base price range for somethign of this media?

Thank you very much for your comment. >^-^<
I had to go back to my website to check my going price, but it is in need of serious updates. So here is some current info:
All of the smaller dolls (done with polymer clay and papers) start at $75. The big ones start around $250. The price can increase depending on complexity, materials, and size.

This one is a very old doll, and has so many mistakes. But her face is still a bit sweeter than some of my other girls.

How much of a notice would you need for a Christmas order 2009? Also do you do payments in full or a down payment portion up front and the rest when the doll is finished? Depending on how my fall sales go, I really would like to consider a commission.

I apologize for being so slow in my reply.

For Christmas I'd probably need to know in October at the latest. My biggest sales for kittens and such (and thusly my busiest kittening time) occur from the end of September to mid-December. Halloween kittens and then Christmas kittens.
If it's a carved doll, they actual doll doesn't take too long. Foam rubber loves me. But the kimono and accessories take longer.
I do split payments up. Sometimes I try to get some kind of deposit to help cover any new materials needed. But I don't require it.

Thanks for getting back to me. the lateness of the reply is not a big deal at all. Alrighty, I'll see how I do come this September since I'm selling at a larger con. Depending on profit, I'll be contacting you again for a Christmas commission. I really love the feline geisha dolls alot.

Thank you! I feel bad for her now, because I always look at her with a critical eye...all the mistakes and such. But I still try to just love her for her. Still the best face I have ever carved.

for a while i thought it was hand drawn, until i relized you did carve it yourself, and i am amazed, this looks so good, i love her kimono, her wig and her cute face, it probally took you forever, i give you props on such a great job.

Howd you do the hair. The hair looks nice, but a bit unnatural to the feline face. You know what would make her better? Cat ears sticking out from her hair, then maybe it would look a bit natural. Nice try though, its very nice!

crokittycats In reply to CrispyMountainJew [2006-01-29 05:42:25 +0000 UTC]

It was a ponytail extension that I flipped upside down. Now I actually have good references on different Geisha wigstyles, plus I have been playing around with a one that will frame the face better and go in front of the ears (you are right, they do need to be in the hair instead of pushing it back). Plus I found a way to make more realistic ears! Thank you for commenting! >^-^<

Wow. So pretty/cute! I'm actually about finished reading "Memoirs of a Geisha", and spotting this couldn't have been at a better time. The dress looks gorgeous, and the expression is very kitty-like.

Beautiful work. You carved it so realistically. Its interesting how you used your cats' whiskers. Mine don't shed theirs often enough for me to do something with them, or they're not shedding them in obvious places. lol

crokittycats In reply to mostnobleblack [2006-01-29 05:44:09 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! They hide their whiskers. My best spots to find them are on the stairs, by the scratching bord, and on their favourite napping blanket. Sometimes on the bed or pillows.

ahaha. lmao. that is so amazing. so so so very amazing. and cute!!!though. cats kinda have a lack of upright elegance i suppose and .. well. horizontally placed shoulders that jut in different directions. so naturally, the kimono kinda slips off the shoulders in that manner. can't tell if i like it that way or not. hmm. it's more cat like this way. so yesh!!
