Oh yes indeed, the film and television series were based on it! It was written in 1972 by Richard Adams. There's even a collection of short stories too (Tales from Watership Down, 1996). Check them out!

Wow, this one is quite menacing. The angular rocks, the shadows in the background and the dark bunny with glowing red eyes really work together to create an atmosphere of something akin to bunny hell. Awesome.
