Description
The magenta-tinged mixture simmered as Arthur checked his spells and potions book again. This time, his creation needed to be perfect- if he could even achieve it, that is. It seemed as if everything was in order; he had cooked and collected all his desired ingredients, adding them to the potion in a precise momentum.
You face suddenly decides to swim back into his mind, and a momentary flush takes over his features as he thinks over just what he was planning to do. As much as he tried to not confront the issue, it was becoming increasingly evident that the country had become smitten with you. There wasn’t a day that went be that he didn’t think about you or something about you.
Taking a flask and collecting some of the liquid swirling in the cauldron, we set it down gingerly on the table attempting to somehow distract himself from his feelings for a moment. Unwrapping a couple of brightly colored candies he had previously purchased, he dropped a couple of droplets of the potion onto the candy with a dropper until it had pink swirls on it. Admiring his handiwork, the candies found its place in a small bowl he had previously prepared.
He wasn’t 100% sure if this was a fool-proof plan, or if it was the right thing to do. Sighing, eyes lowered with confusion, he set the bowl gently on the counter. He really did like you, but he was frustrated with the fact that you never saw him as more than a friend! You really liked his magic and he showed almost also his new findings to you. He had thought that would charm you, but you never showed any feelings still! Jealously boiled in his chest when he saw you talking to that hamburger-eating wanker or that bloody frog…
Knock! Knock! “Are you in there Arthur?”
The sound of your voice flowed into the room like wind. It startled him and momentarily wiped his mind completely blank. Shaking slightly, he proceeded to open the door for you, hoping he looked presentable. Anything on his face? Better not be.
“H-Hello there [Name]! What brings you over today?” he asked, trying to put on a convincing smile that hopefully didn’t betray his feelings.
“Hey Artie, I’m just checking up on you. What are you up to?” you [EyeColor] orbs sparkled as you talked, a smile finding a home on your face.
“N-Nothing really! Just reviewing some spells and such…what about you?” he closed the door behind you like the gentleman he was, and you plopped down on his couch without a second thought.
You whipped out your [sketchbook/notebook] with a devious grin. “Well! I have been working on my [drawing/writing] skills lately and have come for your opinion!” you handed him your prized works and let him look through them.
She explained each one carefully, pointing out some of her favorite parts or talking about something animatedly. He always found his gaze returning to her face, and quickly turned away with a heated blush when she turned to look at him to see what he was staring at.
It was slightly worrying, his mind kept returned to those candies on the counter… The guilt settling in his stomach was feeling even worse as the time passed, and maybe it wasn’t the right thing to do to you. After all, you were the sweet and innocent girl that just happened to be his best friend. If anything goes wrong, that relationship could be ruined and he cared for you far too much to risk that ever happening.
“E-Excuse me for a second [Name].”
He dashed up the stairs, shutting the door to the bathroom and rested his palms over the side of the sink. Heaving a huge sigh, emerald eyes met his in a reflection in the clear mirror. Get a grip on yourself Arthur Kirkland, he told himself. He couldn’t trick [Name] into loving him, that just wasn’t right and fair.
Making sure his heard had settled and nothing would tip you off that something was the matter, he went back downstairs to greet you again. The relaxed smile slid right off his face when he saw what you were eating.
“[FullName]…did you just eat those…?”
“Oh sorry! Was I not supposed to? They tasted really good though, like strawberries and cake,” she thought back, throwing the wrappers at the trash can and making it in.
Shoot. He waited for the horrible outcome to happen, body tensing as his hand gripped the counter so tightly his knuckles were white.
“I’m really sorry…I can pay you back or something! Where is my wallet?” you started searching your pockets.
Oh god what had he done?
Pouting slightly, you added, “Seems as if I left it at home. I’m so forgetful sometimes…I’ll pay you back later then, if that’s alright?”
He blinked, still not comprehending why you were still acting completely normal. The potion should have taken effect by now!
“D-Don’t worry about it [Name], it isn’t that i-important anyways…” he mumbled, still awfully confused.
“If you say so! I have to go now, still have some work to do. See ya later Iggy!” you snatched you [sketchbook/notebook] off the counter and started towards the door.
“Wait!”
You turned, a questioning look in your eyes. “Yes?”
“Do you like me [Name]?” the country asked, nervous about your answer.
“Of course I do! You’re my best friend in the whole wide world Arthur!” you laughed, giving him a thumbs up.
“I mean…as in, more than friends?”
You paused, as if thinking and then quickly replied, “Well that’s for me to know and you to find out!”
As soon as the words left your lips you rushed out the door leaving a bewildered England behind you. A smile then ambushed him, causing him to remember a single line in the Love Potion instructions.
‘If the consumer already has feelings for the creator of the potion, it will have absolutely no effect.’
