Here it is! The first in a line of illustrations about the Pokémon games. The theme is: Gym Leaders of the 1st generation, so folowing the obvious order, Brock must come first. By the way, since my main source of inspiration is going to be the videogames, and since Brock was originally shirtless in the videogames, I decided to put him shirtless here too. Sporting some great abs and an attitude of: Come at me, bro!. Back in the day, if you played the first generation of Pokémon and if you were lucky enough to play it before even watching the anime, you might remember how intimidating Brock might actually get to be. I mean, think about it; he was the very first gym leader of the series for many of us, the first of these special kind of trainers, a "super-trainer", if you will, who were there to put your abilities to the test, and you didn't really know what to expect from this guy and his probably specially-trained Pokémon. And maybe if you chose Squirtle or even Bulbasaur as your starter chances are he really wasn't much of a problem, but if your were like the other 80% of the people back then and you chose Charmander (and this was before his "metal claw" upgrade in Gen 3) this guy was bound to kick your ass more than once. But you had no choice but to keep trying if you wanted to see the rest of the game. And in that glorious moment, when you finally got his Onix and his Geodude to bite the dust (which maybe wasn't much of a problem for them because, you know, they are both Ground types to begin with) and you surpassed this big-ass trainer, you could really feel all capable and mighty, knowing that no matter what kind of challenge this game trew at you, you could always overcome it, and come out victorious with your skill and hard work, training these little powerful beasties, your Pokémon, until you got to be the very best,... or at least until you got to know the next gym leader in the line.

Next time everybody's favorite tomboyish mermaid will step into the frame.

He aquí la primera de una línea de ilustraciones basadas en los juegos de Pokémon. La temática será: Los Líderes de Gimnasio de la Primera Generación, así que si seguimos el orden lógico de la serie, el primero no es otro que nuestro estimado Brock. Por cierto, dado que me voy a insporar principalmente en los videojuegos y dado que Brock originalmente estaba desnudo de la cintura para arriba en ellos, decidí que así es como debía dibujarlo aquí. Complementado con unos buenos abdominales y una actitud de: ¡Ven por mí!. Hace mucho tiempo, cuando salió la primera generación de los juegos de Pokémon, si tú los jugaste y tenía la fortuna de no haber visto el anime antes, puede que entonces recuerdes cuan intimidante podría llegar a ser Brock en aquél entonces. Es decir, para muchos de nosotros se trataba del primer líder de gimnasio de la serie, el primero de esta línea de "super-entrenadores" quienes estaban ahí para probar tus habilidades, y del cual no sabías realmente que esperar en ese entonces ni de sus poderosos Pokémon. Y sí por casualidad habías elegido a Squirtle o a Bulbasaur como tu starter, puede que no representara un gran reto para ti, pero si tú eras como el 80% de los jugadores de aquél entonces que había elegido a Charmander (y tomando en cuenta que esto era antes de que el tuviera un movimiento como "metal claw" que sí es efectivo contra los tipo "Piedra") este tipo sin duda te pateó el trasero en varias ocasiones, pero tú no tenías otra opción más que seguir tratando hasta vencerlo si querías llegar a ver el resto del juego. Y al final, en ese momento de gloria cuando por fin lograbas vencer a su Geodude y Onix y por tanto podías vencer a este poderoso entrenador, de verdad te hacía sentir capaz y poderoso, haciéndote saber que, sin importar la clase de retos que el juego te pusiera enfrente, siempre serías capaz de superarlos y salir triunfante con tu habilidad y trabajo duro, entrenando a las pequeñas pero potentes criaturas, tus Pokémon, hasta llegar a ser el mejor... o por lo menos hasta que al fin conocieras al siguiente líder de gimnasio de la lista.

La próxima vez, veremos por aquí a la entrenadora tipo agua favorita de todos.
