Description
The Umbrum were an ancient species that lived in the icy mountains surrounding the Crystal Empire, and typically a peaceful species. Historically, the Crystal Empire and Umbrum frequently worked together to mine deep inside the mountains, and they even often shared families. However, this all ended when the young Umbrum Sombra tried to gain control of the Crystal Empire and its inhabitants. The other Umbrum did not agree with Sombra's actions, but this did not stop their species from getting almost totally wiped out. Only a small number escaped, and built a refuge village deeper in the mountains, where no ponies dared to go.

And this worked. Despite the harsh weather and sometimes lack of food, the village grew. For centuries they endured. However, a thousand years later when the false king reemerged, the village was once again found and slaughtered. Only a young Umbra filly escaped. Senka ran for her life.

Over the years, Senka struggled to find a place to call home. The trauma she carried with her, that she was never allowed to share, weighed on her mind. She began taking to stealing to get by. She's shown up in dozens of towns pretending to be a helpless, sickly little girl, and then taking whatever she can pack into a bag and running when they get too close to finding her secret. Due to this, she's wanted in many towns. She pretends that it doesn't bother her, but a part of her desperately wishes that she could find a permanant home.

It’s kind of still a work in progress but she meets Noctuliix ‘s Azorda and they’re a (mostly dysfunctional) couple for some time, until inevitably it crashes and burns and Senka runs away. Azorda’s mother however, Athena, had been watching from a distance and comes to comfort Senka. Athena wants to love her children who despise her, and Senka wants a mother to love, so Athena sort of becomes Senka’s adoptive mother. They spend a lot of time together, Senka helping out where she can and Athena spends a lot of time telling her stories
