I have no idea what possessed me to make this, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Pyramid Head is easily the most interesting antagonist from the Silent Hill games, and I have yet to see a well made costume of the character, so I figured I'd take a crack at it. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out, especially considering that this is the first time I've tried my hand at costume making. Now I just need to figure out what the hell to do with the thing, other than wearing it to a Halloween party, I guess.I realize that this costume is in gross violation of the Cosplay Obsessive Accuracy Treaty of 1983, since I am freely combining elements from both the game and the movie. There are two reasons for this. First, I thought Pyramid Head's helmet looked far more menacing in the movie, but in all other respects I preferred the design of the outfit he wore in the game. The second reason is that the movie incarnation wore only a skirt, and I really don't have the build to pull that off. (To be fair, neither did the actor who portrayed him in the film: they used prosthetic muscles.) Click here to see a few close-ups of the helmet, which looks better than is apparent in this photo.
In case it wasn't glaringly obvious, the background is fake. I took the original photo in my apartment, which lacks the right ambiance for this costume, to say the least.

dude i so want that i really wanted to cosplay as Pyramid head (sadly i am a small innocent girl XD so i could not pull him off that well cause of my build still that is freken awesome and may i ask what did you use for the helmet (i love it so i want one) because the only ideas i keep coming up with are coming out at to heavy or to fragile

Even if you didn't think you had the build to pull off PH, you still look really, really good. The helmet looks epic and you did an amazing job making styrofoam look like metal and mesh, and the apron/dress thing (I'm not sure exactly what to call it) looks great! I'm also glad you put in an edited background. It definitely made stop at first and wonder if this was an official picture. XD

This is easily the best pyramid head costume I've seen all put together. I've been looking around because I've been trying to do a silent hill haunted house. The tutorials I've seen so far are easy to follow but sadly, they arent very realistic. Would you mind if I used your costume for reference?

This is really awesome man. I'm going as Pyramid Head to a convention this summer, and your version is a great reference! Although I'm going to be using The Great Knife. But the helmet is just 100% accurate man. Great work.

you should go to an anime convention or a comicbook convention or a game convention near you! there lots of fun and theres plenty of people dressed up so u wont feel alone! its really alsome! best cosplay/costume ive ever seen!

I really don't have the chest style for the movie pyramid head, and the one from the game had a cooler look.
The helm you have is really nice. What did you use to support it on your head?

Thanks! Right now, there aren't any additional supports for the helmet, it just sits directly on my head. I'll probably change that in the future, but I haven't come up with a good support structure yet. I made the apron/robe myself.
