It is a very sad fictional disease. You're right about the person coughing up flowers because of one sided love. It can be cured but I only know two ways, surgical removal or the other person loves back and the petals soon go away. Surgical removal is the sad one because if they are removed from the person then they lose their love for the other person or worse, lose being able to love at all. But if they are not removed somehow, they will die. I made a little line that is fitting for it, die and keep your love or live but lose it.
