No, not THAT Vaati, you idiots! I played The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, and...*takes deep breath*OMG VAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What? He looks charming in that human form of his. I didn't bother to draw the demon form; too big.
The little Vaati in that thing human Vaati's holding is Minish Vaati, before he stole that cool cap he wears, and since Minish are so small, he needs a fancy lookin' magnifying glass just to see his insane Minish form.
And man, I don't really like his demon form. A floating black eyeball with one eye. Yeah...really nice. It seems in the Minish Cap, he's slick, sly and not so insane and he doesn't laugh like Evil Santa. In the Four Swords game, he wants to marry Princess Zelda [insert random number here] and he's all the aforementioned. *starts writing up fanfics*
In short, I say Minish Vaati=Annoying and insane. Demon Vaati=Ugly and horrifying and insane. Human Vaati=Calm, cool, collected, charming. Need I say more?

Sorry about that, Itz just that if i'm not the first, Im not the last either to love Vaati. But YOU are a Neopet fan, I really expect you to like neopets more, (which you do but what the heck) and I expect you to like guyz like JERAN. Because JERAN IS DA MAN......WHO I HATE. Okay, you can date Vaati if you want, he'll get time on his schedule, but now he's on a date with Jhudora,....Wait.....I DIDNT GIVE HIM PERMISSION TO DATE THAT DARK FAERIE!!!! I dont think Vaati's true self is human or minish, he started out as a demon when he was first introduced to LoZ, so I think after the four swords adventures he was asleep for 100 years then woke up as a minish completely forgetting his horrifieing past.

Most people took Minish Cap to be a pre-quel to the Four Swords games, and figured MC was Vaati's origin story. One of the game designers made a comment to that effect somewhere, too. It makes sense, seeing as how he turns into his monster form at the end of MC.
I'm of the opinion that the MC figurine descriptions imply that his mortal body is destroyed when Link defeats his Transfigured form: "once Vaati's body has been shattered, this dark form rises up, all that remains from the evil sorcerer." But like Ganon, he's just too evil to accept death, and so he gives himself over to darkness so that his existence can continue. Now THAT'S willpower!
I'd agree that his true self isn't Minish anymore, though. In my imagination, he sees himself as being above such restrictions as what form he takes, but prefers the Hylian one.
