People believe that mermaids are free creatures but I see them as more... trapped to the oceans. Sure, Earth has more ocean than land but that doesn't mean that it doesn't get lonely.
So far I've caught some mistakes in this:
1. The awkward position of the model.
2. Reflections in the wet sand. I.Hate.Doing.Reflections.
3. Some places with odd lights/shadows.
If you catch anything else, do tell me
I'll try to fix things. I guess that this is a "learning" piece. I tried out fresh color themes and believe it or not, I've never done a mermaid piece before.Stockers

Photoshop CS2, 2500x2000px without border, 300 dpi, 3-3.5 hours. Not bad.

I really like it... I don't see any more flaws except for the ones youve described... But one thing, I have seen a lot of "quad-finned" mermaids drawn up lately, where did that start? To me, I think a mermaid would have a normal fluke like that of a dauphin, but hey, it's all up to imagination I guess so who am I to say what is or isn't, right?

The clam/shell sticks out a lot..might want to fix that ( get rid of it,even)...but other than that, nice job !

It'd be odd though, if I got rid of the shell because then she wouldn't be bound to solid. I can try blurring the shell and big pearl a little to make it stand out less

This is absolutely gorgeous. The colour is flawless, and of your 'mistakes' the only one I notice is her positioning. But I might not have even noticed that if you hadnt mentioned it
