Description  Around the world, there are tales of strange supernatural dogs. The most feared of them is the Hellhound, also known as the Black Shuck in England, the Garm in Norway and Perro Negro in Latin America. Through out history, people have spotted mysterious black dogs. The most well known of these stories took place in Bungay, England of 1577 during a violent thunderstorm swept through the town, causing citizens to run in fear and gather at the church, praying for mercy. In a flash of Fire, a Ghostly black dog burst through the doors of the church and attacked the Congregation, killing two people and severely burned another, and as fast as it appeared, the beast vanished. Often associated protecting spirits and gates of the dead, they have been seen roaming hillsides and graveyards. Many claim these Phantom dogs were created by ancient demons. The most famous hellhound of all is Cerberus, the Three-Headed Demon Dog of Greek Mythology who guards the Gates of the Underworld. These Phantom dogs smell of brimstone and are often associated with fire, as they leave scorch marks where ever they go. The legend says that if you see a hellhound 3 times, you will soon meet an untimely death. Only very special members of the Cryptid Hunters Society have been allowed to research these bringers of death.

Curious, does your research span beyond just wikipedia and lost tapes?

I've seen episodes of Animal X: Natural Mystery Unit and Finding Bigfoot. I've occasionally seen this show called Mountain Monsters and I've seen a few episodes of a relatively new show called Expedition Mungo.

420smoke and I have a similar question in regards to how you classify cryptids.
Is Satan a cryptid?

The hellhound isn't known as the Garm is Norway. Garm(r) is a wolf or dog associated with both Helheim and Ragnarök, and described as a blood-stained guardian of Hel's gate. There’s just barely enough material in the surviving Old Norse sources to get a general idea about the kind of being he was perceived to be during the Viking Age. He is said to be to canines what Odin is to gods and what Yggdrasil is to trees, the exemplar. He is not a hellhound, and should not be associated. Also we don't call a hellhound un "Perro Negro" in Latin america (spanish), they're actually a cancerbero (not to confused with the luchador named Cancerbero), perro negro is just spanish for black dog.
I'm not entirely sure what a black shuck is but a google search says its a ghost dog spotted in places like England and Essex.
I don't know why people would say Cerberus is a hellhound, the only connection I can see being a dog and having a black fur coat, because other than that they do not possess any of the same properties. Not to mention Cerberus is the offspring of the monsters Echidna and Typhon, while the hellhounds are just more generic hounds from the infernal realm that are assigned to bring people to the realm of the dead. Also why is the "hellhound 3 times, you will soon meet an untimely death." included? How would you have anyone research these creatures then without having to constantly replace those assigned to the task?
I don't think this thing is a cryptid either.

I did my research for Hellhounds, and many of those names were brought up in the wikipedia and Lost Tapes. And yes, it included Cerberus in there, as well as the legend of "see one 3 times, you die" thing.

If the names are mentioned, then it doesn't mean your research is right it could be possible that they're wrong. In fact they are wrong because I know Norse mythology and Garm(r) is indeed a wolf or dog associated with Helheim and Ragnarök, its sort of like a Norse Cerberus. You didn't even look at it with an objective viewpoint, you just took their word for whatever your two sources said and considered it like as a decree. Also a legend is just something is added to bring in another part, and if the cryptid hunter society is really meaning to research hellhounds, wouldn't it be extremely expensive for the organization to constantly replace personnel in order to maintain the hellhound research if the legend were true?
(First part edited in for clarity)
Even so, it would've been better if you added your own twist or make it your own thing, so to speak rather than just copying two different sources and mashing them together, it just creates a mess especially when you're not exactly selective to make traits and pieces be concise and work well together.

They have figured out ways of looking into hellhound sightings while being safe. That's mentioned in the episode they appear in.

Its explicitly stated in the story, "It's a demon dog", so its not a cryptid.
Reading the story only raised more questions for me, why is there a cemetery but there's never been hellhounds there before? If their task is dragging spirits to hell, why is there a cemetery with dead people in it, but yet hellhounds have never been around before? I assume that this would imply that people just never died because if no one died then hellhounds wouldn't show up to collect their souls or with the prospect of reaping them. Why is the cemetery near a busy street with so much traffic? That's poor city planning and is very uncommon. So they used magic visors and magic in order to be immune to the hellhound curse, alright I can accept that.
Why are there hellhound breeders? Also isn't taking the hellhounds and putting them into a research facility or removing them from the natural environment, that would be disrupting the natural flow of life, since they are meant to take the souls of people and guide them to hell or the afterlife, along with what is the purpose of researching them, they aren't inherently evil if they're just doing a job for their masters. Also why hellhound breeders? Its established in your story that hellhounds are ethereal and are created by demons, so why are hellhound breeders a thing if its implied that you can't breed hellhounds? Also why would they ever be tamable by normal people so magic must be involved. How would they make a living off of being a hellhound breeder? Who would buy an animal that would kill them and their neighbors and take their souls into the afterlife, they're obviously dangerous. Also how is a demon ethereal exactly? They can't be the same, it seems like you just mashed together loosely researched wikipedia search along with some tv show version made with stupid reasons in order to create simple tension in order to garner viewers. The placement of hellhounds in world seem very artificial, it doesn't read like its natural but yet its stated that they are natural to the world.
Even so, the general populace didn't know about the hellhounds so whats the risk for them anyway, if they are ethereal dogs not everyone can see them, so they just lie in wait to collect the right people, if they really were an enormous unnatural threat, they would have just came out of the cemetery much sooner and started a rampage, a culling of souls in large quantities in a short time. But they didn't so they're obeying natural law for those that must pass on right? The continuity just keeps being messed with in Cryptid hunters, like its an excuse for the cryptid hunters themselves to have something to do.

That begs the question, what counts as a cryptid?
