Description When the world asked for super heroes, a legend of stepped up to the plate. Who is she? take look inside to find out more about this new heroine in the exciting first issue of INDOMITABLE!

....if I ever sat down and actually wrote it. This is actually my entry for Drawing a "Fat" Female Superhero. I love super heroes so I kinda tried to go for a bit of a comicky superhero cover with her.

The reason I decided to enter this contest was mainly because I tend to find this body type attractive but I rarely draw thicker women. So I decided to figure out why, and I realized that the standard body type I often draw is not only a result of what I like but more of a result of what I have practiced the most, when learning how to draw one usually practices these idealized forms and learns all these garbage "7-8 head rule" shortcuts and the like for drawing anatomy that more realistic bodies become a bit alien. So I had to relearn how to draw anatomy while this time taking mass and weight in consideration and what not, it was challenging and it was a real treat to do. So I really dont care if I win or lose, I got the fun and the experience out of this.

Also this entry's other purpose was to make a statement, girls with realistic body types can be badass, interesting, sexy and are healthy. We definitely need more of these in comics and stories, I do recognize I contribute to the problem as a consumer and hobbyist and that I need to take steps to aid in improving the situation.

Another note about this is her pose since I have been asked about it a couple of times already, truth of the matter is, that I chose this pose on purpose with the intent to make statement number two. The boobs and butts pose has been getting a really bad rep lately (and mostly with good reason) but it has gotten to the point that it has become trendy to hate on it instead of objectively critiquing it, and thats what worries me, I am not big fan of trends that are oriented towards stifling a type of stylization or creative aspect of art. I have seen many who call this type of pose anatomically impossible and call foul immediately without even stopping to analyze it just because its what every one else is doing. Never mind the fact that most comics are heavily stylized and realism has little place on them but thats another story.

And because of that I make small statement, for creative freedom, for equal representation and for the right to stylize. Because:

Awesome stuff, mate.

Even though it's for a contest, I would love to see more of her.

Excellent comic book cover, particularly the color against grayscale. Charming body type with the very rounded curves on breasts, belly, and legs plus the soft round face.
As for the pose, people have differing levels of flexibility. I can twist that far back, give or take.

That is some badass shading going on there! Love the style. It have a noir feel!
I absolutely love your shading on her body. That feels like some solid fat! You really got the weight of her properly.
Looks like a real comic cover too.

If you want one critique... I wouldn't put the gradient and emboss on the title. Two reasons:
1. It's kinda industry standard not to actually use emboss in proper graphic design or official covers. So using it kinda look unprofessional. (Then again, we're here to subvert industry standards, so screw that.)
2. Your image itself have a lot of high contrast and solid shades. The gradient and emboss kinda takes away from it. You also got a breaking thing on the font, but the emboss soften edges. It almost made it look like smooth glass, together with the gradient. This doesn't feel as strong as solid red text.

If you're worried about legibility, then I think you could do a thick black outline around the text. But looking at that area I think that's not even necessary.

Thank you, Ill admit I was worried my shading style wouldnt look comic enough, I glad you liked it. And you are definitely right about the embossed title, I hadnt noticed how much it took away from the image, I definitely have lot to learn about lettering, I think letterers are unsung heroes in the comic industry. I am gonna try and work on the tittle a little bit and update it after the voting is done. Your feedback is much appreciated.

Glad that helped!
I'm going into graphic design, so I'm a bit more sensitive in this area than actual drawing hahahaha...

Thank you! One of the main things I was shooting for when I was brainstorming her is that I wanted a badass adorkable super heroine.
