Alright for this pic I have kinda two things to talk about. As you might already have taken from the title, I recently had been thinking about making an open project, meaning anyone can contribute to it, no matter what kinds of art they pursue. Writers, illustration, concepts, anything really. So what would this project be about, you might wonder. So well, since I am me and I am an uninspired boring person, I thought it a nice idea to make a completely new world within the Magic the Gathering Multiverse, basically to give it a little more frame and depth on people to work with and I mean we can create more custom cards together...
So about the world, since I am back from Sweden I had this concept of a dark grim and harsh world with deep ancient and dark woods, sharp cold mountains, swamps and stuff like this based on northern european landscapes and folklore with classic fantasy races.
Major tribes I had thought about were orcs, human (that can change into bears since normal humans are boring) and elves. With secondary tribes of goblines, dwarves, werewolves, demons, fairies, beasts and so on. So I think it would feature something for everyone, either various landscapes or species. As I wrote before I will upload some more pics to give a basic idea of the setting for each tribe.

Now the really important question to me would be if there is any interest from your side in such a project. I tried to set up something that's special but still versitile so anyone can find something he or she enjoys working on and maybe also discover new things while working with others on a bigger project than maybe one person alone could do.
I would really really like to hear your thought, this is eventually vital to how I proceed with this.
From what I learned with my previous projects are two things, one is I really love setting up worlds and characters and I am sure many of you do as well and the second is that it is abitious at least to handle this all alone. So I thought working with others would actually be a good idea here because it's always nice to work with other artists and maybe learn how they approche something like this and at the same time we could create much more together than a single person could.

Also I want to add one more thing for those that might not be familiar with Magic the Gathering and aren't sure about entering a fan project for it. It is absolutely no problem if you don't know MtG! It is just a little frame to get on terms easier and we still want to set up a new world in the first place. I happily help out with questions and it eventually only plays a bigger role when it comes to maybe making cards out of the created artworks and you don't have to do that on your own, in fact this is one of the things the project is about, to create stuff together with other people who can help out.

Alright so this much about this possible project, now I want to add about this certain character shown above.
Yhnir is one of the three remaining Demon lords on the world (for the MtG interested, each of those will be two colored and be a demon and another beast type, eg here would be a w/b Demon Unicorn). Those demons once ruled the world but not long ago their reign got wiped out by the empire of elves (in terms of MtG they will be sultai colored, so b/g/u). Yhnir ever since has been a solemn and quiet person, dedicated to his task as caretaker of the dead and healer and punisher for the living.
Besides the project I would really like to hear what you think. I had a lot of ideas of how to approche him and I went through various sketches and race combinations until my friend :leafside_inc.: suggested unicorns. Now at first I thought it not ideal since I kinda saw unicorns more on the Green color in magic, but then I did a little reserch and actually the majority of them is white and that then led to my two final concepts of either a demon archon or a demon unicorn character (I kinda noticed that white really lacks interesting species. Mostly they have soldiers and knights iconic stuff besides angels but those aren't really species in the end and more a profession).
Well, either way I would love to hear your opinion on the design and of course the pic in general. I also tried to give it a little more traditional feeling to it and while it had questionable success here I will try to pursure that in the future. One of my great idols on artists is Chris Rahn who is just mindblowingly amazing and also works traditional while I by no means want to copy him -what I also never will be able of- his works were always a great source of inspiration for me. I really recommend checking out his works if you don't know him.
