Description

"The soft footsteps of the small Paralophosaurus quietly rung through the labyrinth of cattails and swamp grass. Having survived another long night, he embraced the soft glow of the morning sun, hungry to feel the warmth that the night had taken from him. This had been his routine every since his hatching. Hiding amongst the tall reeds that had been his nursery, seeking its comfort and protect from the cold chill of the night. Listening to the soft whistle it gave to rock him to sleep each and every night. From as far as Fiore knew, the quiet bit of marsh had been his home, having it proved him both protect and an almost surplus amount of food to feast upon. Its was like the parent that he had never known of.
The squelch of marsh soon turned to the click of feet on wood as Fiore hopped up onto the ramshackle bridge that he used to sunbath on. He blinked his eyes a bit to adjust to the rays of daybreak, stretching his back out to shake of the remaining lull of sleep that had hung to his bones. He let out a squeak of a yawn as he relaxed, the noise sounding loud against the calm of the wetlands around him. Looking off into the scene around him, he wondered if there was any other that roamed the same land that he had grown to call home. Another itch soon took place instead of sleep, something that was the complete opposite of it. Exploration. Out of what he assumed to be a mix of fear and rootlessness, he hadn't yet left the safe haven that was the nursery of reeds. Was the fear a justified reasoning? He hadn't yet seen another past by his section of the marsh, so he had no idea of the faces that could be out there, but that fact also excited him. What truly lay past the softly flowing waters of his home. Were there others similar to the reflecting he saw in the water? What did they act like? Would they accept him like he was one of their own? Fiore knew nothing but the calming sway of the cattails and reeds, but heading out of them both excited and scared him. Hesitance clouded over his face as he yearned to take a step forwards towards the distance. He'd be leaving the one safety net he knew, but on the other hand he could find more out there then what home has for him. With a huff he set his foot down and steadied himself on the rickety bridge that was now his starting line.

He may not know what was out there, but Fiore was ready to found out what was."  Word Count: 460
Wow!! Honestly didn't expect this piece to come together so quickly, but I glad it did! I had a lot of fun experimenting with the background on this one and getting a bit of writing, haven't done that in awhile.
