Inspired by my trip to Jordan. I have his story, just need to write it.

Used David Gandy pinterest.com/pin/137148751123… as ref; I stumbled on him by accident. He had the beaky nose, the sloping forehead, the widow's peak, beard and curly hair I was looking for. However, King Lucien always wears his hair long, never wears a cardigan, and his eyes are brown, not blue.

The background took me awhile to figure out. Didn't want a raptor over his shoulder. Besides, he's smack bang in the middle of the pic, something I never do unless it's a sketch. Well, this is in my sketchbook...

He's one of the sixty-odd people on his planet who can ride the man-eating raptor (bird) and not get killed.

Every morning he's in the raptor conservatory overlooking the desert mountains. There he feeds the birds, cleans their cages, checks their injuries. Eagles, buzzards, falcons, hawks, owls and man-eating raptors; they are managed by the Raptor Director who must also be a Rider. The king is a nuisance however; he tends to take off and land from the conservatory. Never mind it's a good hike from the palace.

Once monarch of a small desert kingdom, he first attacked neighbouring city-states and then annexed the entire planet. He let people believe it's a grab for power. However, he awaits the sky-people, certain they would bring false promises and pestilence.
