Description This took me alllllll day! It's Aya Matsuura from a picture in her Photobook. I used the photo as a basis and in Photoshop went layer by layer creating the shading... It was messy, but I think the end result was pretty nifty. Not my usual style, and that's what I was after. Done in Photoshop 7.0.

That's one of the best photo manipulations I've ever seen.

It's a lot of fun, but time consuming... Ugh, I wish there were a faster way to do it.

Thankies! It was a pain in the butt cause I kept bumping up so much, I had never done anything like it before. I'm working on another one, but this time I've learned to do it in installments. *lol* Patience indeed was necessary, at least for me, *lol* cause I'm a bumbler in Photoshop! X_X I'm loving those prints, they are beautiful! So rich and authentic!

it turned out awesome. it makes me wish i knew more about photoshop. i'm taking graphic design next year, and i guess i get to learn a lot of the basics of photoshop. i knew a little now, but not enough to do something like this.

Thank you! I've been playing around with Photoshop for about 2 years, and I'm WAAAAY far from an expert, it just takes a little experience and a whole lot of boredom. *lol* All you have to do is play about a bit and things really come together! I'm gonna try and make a tutorial to show the "secrets" that make it so easy once you've done it one time, but free time is being mean to me. *lol*

Wow! the hair must have taken forever! You did every strand.
The shading is really realistic, but it's not at the same time... I'm not making any sense.... But great pic. You should do more of this style.

Thank you so much! Don't worry, you make sense. I think that's how I was trying to explain it as well. *lol* I'm hoping very soon to have some more of this style up.

Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to try some more, I just have to find a day when I have NOTHING to do... *lol* Boy does that style take a long time... I've not made any prints yet, perhaps these style ones WILL be the first when I can! I thank you for the encouragement!! It really gets my bum moving!

Friti In reply to Friti [2004-03-13 05:15:45 +0000 UTC]

It was well-worth the effort though... May I give you an enthusiastic 'WOW' one more time? I'm near-illiterate when it comes to digital art... *grins*

WOW. *ogles*

And honestly the only reason I do draw animals is because my people look like crap. Hehehe

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrystallineColey In reply to Friti [2004-03-14 00:54:34 +0000 UTC]

Awwww, I'm sure your people don't look like crap!!! If you can draw bodies that well, the only thing missing is a human face, which I'm sure you'd just do perfectly! --but I ADORE your aminals, so keep at them! *LOL*

CrystallineColey In reply to Friti [2004-03-13 04:52:29 +0000 UTC]

Thankies! Boy, it took me about 5 or more hours to do this, and it was supposed to be a "just for fun let me try this" thing... Turned into a real project! *lol* I just about kicked my computer 10 times!

Envy goes both ways, though, I drool over how awesome you draw animals, I couldn't draw anything but a little upside down "W" type bird... And you... WOW!!

Thank you again, I'm so glad that this is being enjoyed!

CrystallineColey In reply to DavidFolkie [2004-03-13 03:53:49 +0000 UTC]

Thankies! I was scared with the shading, I used some pretty radical colours... I wasn't sure how it would turn out. In the end it seems to have melded together pretty nicely. ^_^
