Description "You have mysterious allure," she told one hat that was all veiling with hidden twinkles. To a wide, creamy hat with roses under the brim, she said, "You are going to have to marry money!"

-------------------------

I love the book, Howl's Moving Castle. I always wondered what would happen if Howl happened to pass by the hat shop while Sophie was arranging the hats in the window and talking to them. It never happened that way, but one can always dream... *sigh*

I know they made HMC into a movie, but this is a fanart of the book - thus sophie's hair is more red-blonde than brown and her eyes are green. Howl is wearing the gray/red suit that Sophie accidentally charmed for him. I tried to match up the hats with the descriptions in the book, but I kinda mixed them up a bit, ah well!

It's a bit messy, and something about the perspective is screwed up, but this piece was fun practice. I hope you enjoy!

Thanks so much! I know, it's such a great book, I have horribly romantic fantasies about them as well, haha.

Such a pretty scene! It would be cute if this scene was actually written into the book...

I book Howl! But I also KINDA like the movie because Christian Bale's voice for Howl is so incredibly sexy and awesome!

Hehe, yeah I know what you mean, well I guess since I watched the movie first I kinda imagined Howl with the same voice in the book, so it didn't make too big a difference for me. Christian Bale... yummy...

Thanks a lot! This is actually my first real practice on them, now that I've gotten the hand of perspective I find that I enjoy drawing them very much.

Yeah I heard the book was good stuff. *should go raid the library some day* Your perspective isn't all that off actually, it looks pretty good. And nice to see your trademark color schemes in there. Definitely makes it more recognizable. ;D

I felt more in the book than the movie, slightly disappointed things didn't work out the way it was in the book in the movie...*sadness*

I liked the relationship better between Howl and Sophie in the book So glad someone else knows the book! I like your art- so warm and full of feeling g

Hehe thanks so much! Glad you like it.

I know, I really loved their relationship in the book, and Howl seemed more real somehow. . . less like the average "anime type hero" and more like a real person. I loved the ending, though I don't want to spoil it for anyone else, but when you find out that Howl knew about Sophie the entire time. . . wow, my heart just fluttered, lol!

Anyway, I'm glad to meet more fans of the book, it definitely deserves more attention.

The movie and the book have nothing in common ..so i think book is more well done.. movie it's easier like Howl

I think the two are vastly different, but I believe they accompany one another suprisingly well. One of the best book to anime adaptations if you ask me. (The books my favorite though! )

"movie is easier like Howl" do you mean it was easier to like Howl in the movie? Just wondering!

Yeah, well there are a few common themes in the beginning of the movie and the book, but then they each go vastly different ways. I also enjoyed the book more, Jones has an excellent way with language.

Your work is easy to recognize with those lovely purple-ish blue hues in it! Great work on the perspective, and of course the characters are nice as well. I think you did great for just a practice piece!

Thanks a lot dear, I'm so glad you like it! I've been practicing perspective a lot lately, I bought a few books on it and have been self-teaching. It's a little shakey, but I'm glad to be seeing improvements.

BTW, did you have another art account for your original work? I seem to remember something about you opening one, but I can't find the link anywhere. . . ? Maybe I'm just going crazy.

Yeah, I had one for my anthro stuff, but it's kinda dead right now. I haven't updated in over a year. It's a bit tough managing two galleries, but I may go back and work on it some more sometime!

^_^ I've never seen or read howl's moving castle (would like to do both at some stage) so I don't know either of the characters but this is still a really nice piece.

Thanks a lot! Yes, HMC is a great book (author Diane Wynne Jones if you ever want to check it out). Her writing is very British, but I enjoy her humor, and the ending is perfect.

Yeah, same here... I saw the movie first, then found out it was a book, but I like drawing scenes from the book better because somehow they're more precious to me. . . I dunno, probably cuz I'm a writer.

Hmmm.. that could definitely be.. I think I'm mostly partial to the movie cuz of the voice actor for Howl.. Christian Bale's voice it totally sexy..

Thanks a lot! I actually got a copy of the ebook, but it was so good that I went out and bought the softcover version. You can find it in the Barnes and Noble YA section by Diane Wynne Jones.
