Description
The assassin, Crash, from my story Cat's Eye. I'm running a contest for people interested in winning a free copy of the book - you can find a link to it here: [link]I'm not happy with this. The sketch was good, but somehow when I painted it the eyes got a bit too high, and then the neck was at the wrong angle, and then the hair messed up, and so after days and days of tweaking I have finally given up that it's a lost cause. It's my best portrait so far I guess, but some day I'm going to have to redo it from scratch. There's just too much stuff I don't like about it. :sigh:

Frankly, even if you are not satisfied with this portrait, I find it's superb ! The look of this assassin is really poignant, I love his eyes ! And the rest of his facies is both classy and elegant. One easily passes off the few imperfections.
I'm hope that I don't made lacks of english language...

Oh I already mentioned these songs once: this kiss by faith hill and everything by bran van 3000. They remind me of cat's eye mostly because i was listening to them the whole time i was reading the book.

Wow! The eyes are great! And I really like the veils, they're so cool! The hair looks just a tad too thick at the back though. Crash is....wow

Lol, that's so very nice of you... I do tend to be very heavily critical of my work, but then again, I feel that the moment I'm satisfied with what I do is the moment I stop improving, so maybe it's a good thing...

OH MY GOD...now I feel a bit crazy, cause when I came across this I actually said that outloud...even though I'm alone >_> Haha, it's amaaazing though! And as a huge fan of your story I can't believe that you're then hugely talented at drawing too! Gah, too much talent for one person! : P
Anyway, thank you sooo much for having drawn this, now I finally have a drawing of Crash the way I've always seen him in my head. LOVE it! ^_^

I'm so glad you liked the picture, I've been trying for a long time to do a really good portrait of Crash, but it never seems to come out quite right. This one I'm still not satisfied with. . . but it's one of my best so far, I think.

Looks great... I don't see anything wrong with the eyes, but if you think it is too high, you can try moving the mask up a little, like just add a bit at the top so it goes farther up the face. The hair does look a bit clumpy on his left. Overall, it looks really good.

Yeah the clumpy hair actually happened at the last second when I was trying to fix the angle of his head... I was too tired of tweaking stuff to fix it, haha. I'll have to go back and redo it at some point...

Perhaps you think it's a lost cause, but I think he's simply beautiful. As they say, it only looks incorrect to the one who birthed it, but to everyone else, it's a perfect composition. I especially find myself lost in all the strokes so rich and deep. If this were a print, I'd buy it. What's the full-size version?

I have the full sized version available but I didn't upload it because it's 8x10 300dpi and I wasn't planning on submitting it as a print. If you want though, I can change that.
