"Get out, get out, GET OUT!!"

Hearing the Lady of the castle scream this at least once a day wasn't uncommon for the denizens to hear-sadly enough. It was also not out of the ordinary to see the Lord N nursing a new bruise somewhere on his body after his attempts to improve his new bride's opinion of him. It was like something out of a great tragedy: a young woman, only sixteen years of age, forced to marry a man she hated and then locked away in a castle away from all she knew and loved. While most members of Team Plasma despised their new Queen for her constant abuse of the King, some of them felt pity for her -Concordia and Anthea especially. How could one not feel even the slightest bit of remorse for her when they passed by the door to her bedchamber, only to hear her quietly sobbing and whispering wishes to return home? To those with particularly sharp ears, the names "Nobori" and "Kudari" were often heard somewhere between her sobs (the former a little more than the latter).

Whatever the most common opinion on the couple was -feeling bad for the Lady for being trapped, or feeling bad for the Lord for being verbally and physically abused- it weighed heavily over the castle like a wet blanket, the feelings of joy and triumph the organization felt at the abolishing of the Pokemon League long since numbed and faded away. The only one who didn't seem to be affected by the negative feeling in the air was Ghetsis, who persisted in saying that their Queen was merely in shock and that she would get used to her new position eventually. In the meantime, he had advised N to not let White out of the castle, since she had a habit of trying to run away. Even before the wedding Lady Whitlea had tried to escape, leading to more than a few dresses being ripped and ruined.

As for N, he was left alone to try and make sense of everything, nursing a brilliant new red mark on the side of his face. He stood frozen in front of the dark wood door that had just been slammed shut, mouth gaped open and blinking rapidly. He had managed to get White to throw him out in a mere two minutes and fifteen seconds- a new record. N sighed and rubbed his cheek as he walked down the hall, briefly wondering if there was a hand mark on his face (White had certainly hit him hard enough to leave one). Why did she have to be so difficult? N didn't do anything wrong, and yet she acted like he had committed some horrible travesty. Honestly, humans were so confusing sometimes. It seemed like Pokemon were the only ones who made any sort of sense.

Maybe talking to one of White's Pokemon would help N understand her better, Pokemon were always completely honest after all. But which one should he talk to? Minia and Althea (A Scrafty and Audino respectively) were busy taking care of their egg, and N didn't want to disturb them. Lucia (her Galvantula) was a little too... fast talking for N's taste. Mathias (Haxorus) shared his Trainer's dislike for N, and wouldn't say a word to him. Finally Damon (Chandelure) didn't even speak, not to N at least. He was sure the ghost Pokemon tolerated N at least, and yet he hadn't even heard the faintest whispers from him.

That left Jade, White's Serperior and starter Pokemon. She knew White the longest- she was more liable to understand what was going through her Trainer's head. If anything, it was someone N could talk to concerning his wife. Jade was a calm, warm, almost motherly sort of Pokemon. No doubt the one that kept the rest of the team in line. The peacemaker, so to speak. Goal in mind, N wondered down to another room in the hall, just a few steps down from White's bedchamber. At the very least N could give her Pokemon their own room as apposed to releasing them- not that anyone of them would want to leave White. She treated them all with a loving care that N had seen in so little Trainers.

He took a breath to collect his bearings before letting himself inside, trying not to make too much noise as he poked his head in. The room was huge, easily able to accommodate six Pokemon and then some. From his vantage point N could see Minia and Althea, leaning against each other against one of the bean-bags N had provided for the room, a creamy-colored, blue-green spotted egg resting peacefully in Althea's lap. Damon, not surprisingly, was casually floating several meters off the ground, blankly looking up at the ceiling with only vague interest. Looking up, N saw that Lucia was spinning herself a web in one of the farther corners of the room, chirping and clicking merrily as she tugged at the electrified strings with her legs.

"This web here that web there. Oh! Maybe I should make a little spiral design! That would be lovely, wouldn't it? Why yes, it would be." Lucia said happily as she began making the aforementioned spiral in her web. Of course her words here jumbled and far too fat, but understandable none the less.  A deep, intimidating growl diverted N's attention away from the web, and he saw Mathias glaring at him dangerously from his spot in the room, just outside the square of sunlight that came in through the window.

" What do you want?" Mathias snarled, baring his fangs menacingly. No doubt he heard White screaming earlier, which probably just added to his animosity towards the young King.

"I just want to talk to Jade." N replied calmly, holding his hands up as he nudged the door closed with his foot. At the sound of her name Jade's head lifted, lazy orange eyes looking over to N. A peach-colored forked tongue darted out from the grass-type's mouth as she slowly rose herself up and uncoiled herself, just enough so that her entire body remained in the sunlight.

""Yes?" Jade questioned, her voice soothing to N's ears. He approached and Mathias growled again. Jade pointed her snout at him and hissed lightly. "Behave yourself." She scolded the powerful dragon type. Surprisingly Mathias yielded, climbing to his feet and lumbering over to a corner of the room. His eyes never left N as he crossed over to stand before the Serperior. "You came to talk about White, didn't you?" Jade asked one N stood before her, leafed tail swishing against the carpet slightly.

"I just..." N sighed and sat down cross-legged, Jade lowering her head accordingly. "I don't know what to do." He admitted, reaching out to gently cup the side of Jade's face. Her scales were soothingly warm to the touch. "I can't make anything right with her. I give her dolls, she throws them away or gives them to Mathias to tear apart." At this Mathias chuckled, but N ignored him. "I offer to read to her, she slams the door in my face. I ask a simple question and she just... gets so made at me. I don't get it!" N ran a hand through his hair in frustration and sighed. "I was hoping you could help me. You know her better than anyone."

"Better than most," Jade replied, "but not anyone. The Subway Masters know her better than I ever could." She corrected. N grimaced at the memory of those two. Those evil, wicked, vile men who ran that horrible facility.

"I'd rather not think of those two." N grumbled. Jade's tongue flicked out again as she leaned her head in closer, focusing on the red mark on N's cheek.

"Perhaps you are being insensitive."

"What do you mean?"

"Despite your opinion on those two, White has known both of them since she was a youngling. She cares deeply for both of them. I know this and I only met them when I was still a young Servine." Jade's tail flicked slightly, hitting the floor with a muted thud. "Yet, despite that, you separated White from them without thinking. You must have seen the way White looked at them during our last battle- didn't that tell you anything??"

"I... I..." N stammered, trying vainly to find his words. "I messed up... didn't I?" He asked meekly.

"You made a mistake," Jade acknowledged with a nod. "But mistakes can be fixed. You're a smart human, you'll think of something."

N chewed his bottom lip for a few seconds before closing his eyes and brushing a hand over his bangs, almost like he was trying to wipe away any second thoughts.

"I'm sure I'll come up with something. And if I do... White will like me?"

"She won't like you instantly, after what you've done it will take time. It will be a step in the right direction, however." N nodded and stood up silently, brushing his trousers free before speaking again.

"Thank you." He said as he leaned down and kissed the top of Jade's head softly. He turned and left the room, heading the gentle sound of scales sliding against cloth. Jade was probably returning to her sunbathing.

"I don't know how you can be so kind to him." Mathias snarled as N reached the door.

"He means White no harm. He's simply a little... naive." Jade responded evenly. Mathias snorted,

"What you call naive I call heartless. You've heard the way he makes White cry; him and the rest of Team Plasma." N shut the door behind him, if not just to block out Mathias' scathing words. He touched his still-stinging cheek as he walked down the hall towards his room. He would formulate a plan in the morning.
