Description All parts shown here are from

Finally trying to create Crystal in real life, this is the beginnning though it is going to take me quite some time but so far so good. This was the Large K-9 resin blank from DreamvisionCreations with 4cm painted resin eyes with LED that are green, handpainted k-9 jaw set and blue silicon nose and tongue which are UV reactive.

So everything is installed and I have the elastic around the head so i can wear it. The inside still needs to be padded and I need to remove the springs and just use the elastic I think since the springs damaged the blank on the bottom. after that I can foam up the sides and such and work on the ears!

All credit for the parts and such are to

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I will say that is the maker of all the parts I used for this project. This is quite old and I've already moved on to other projects.
Once you purchase the materials you need from their webstore: dreamvision-creations.myshopif…

They have a lovely tutorial section on youtube that actually walks you through the steps on how to put their products together and complete a head all on your own!

I cannot recommend their quality of products enough. I've been ordering from them for years! They have many new items now as well!

Well my description states several times that I was using their parts. But if your looking into sculpting you can look up resin casting on YouTube. Dreamvision creations uses oil clay for sculpting, and smooth-on resin products for casting. Smooth-on has a YouTube that explains most of their products and how to use them.

Why are you getting this? Aren't these things really expensive? You'd only be able to wear it indoors or at a convention.

That is not true...and I already have it, I am doing the work on this...it is going to be a partial suit and I plan on using it quite a bit. You can wear them outside and just for the hell of it. Like I and my friends like to go to Washington DC alot and I can romp around the city in one....go look on youtube there is alot of outings in fur suits

Does it affect your chances of getting a job, if you don't have one already? Do people ever ask you if you're mascots from a football team?

I work at a jewelry store currently so no it does not affect my job...when at work I do my job...my spare time I can do what I want and others at my job are actually supportive of me with this as I have showed them. They also know that I am very creative so I don't get negative comments at all. They also know that if I am successful I could make more money on the side making more masks

As for the whole mascot thing, yes I have gotten this before but I just say that I am raising awareness for animals and things like that and people tend to understand. Since I am using all fake parts for this and people are either kinda freaked out and stay away or they are really excited and walk right up asking questions and stuff. At the moment I usually just walk around with ears and a tail since my suit head isn't finished yet but I would like to walk around at adoption clinics and things to help raise awareness there! I plan on using my suit for good but also for conventions and just for fun as well

So you're not just a furry? That's really nice to hear. I used to be pretty neutral towards furries up until I moved out of home and saw that most of them were using their subculture as a base for some really absurd fetishes.

Good on you and keep doing what you're doing. ^^

Well this is the thing...with every popular thing there is a light side and a dark side of things. It doesn't mean that either are bad...it just depends on what you are in to and what others are in to. I do some things but it is only with my fiance (soon to be husband in a few days :3) I don't openly yiff (casual or open sex with multiple partners for furries.) Though there are some who do. Again this isn't always a bad thing but people shouldn't shove it in other peoples faces. Its the same thing with homosexuality...I don't care what you do just don't shove it in my face. What you do is up to you just don't force others to watch or look. With my fursuit I want to be able to have fun, but also be able to help out as well, like below said..using things for charities and things like that, Also animal adoption places too.

As a whole the community is full of wonderful and nice people but there is always (with any fandom) a side that is different. Kinda like a catch 22.

I hope this helps out and maybe opens your eyes a bit. Its always good to know both sides of the story just so you know the yes's and no's of something. I'm sorry if others think that you are being kinda aggressive about this but I can understand since a lot of the art that you look up can be of yiffing, but there are alot of artists that draw furry art that do only clean art and not yiffing. Some draw just yiffing, and some do a mix. I myself draw mostly clean with maybe some tastefully nudity here and there. I might draw a yiffy scene here or there but thats not my main thing that I like to draw.

Sorry, I just brushed by this piece and noticed this comment.

The part of the fandom that have fetishes pertaining to it is not more than a small percentage of the entire fan base. I feel like you've had one bad experience that you're casting as a generalization onto anyone who you see with furry related garb, which really isn't the case There are a pretty big amount of people who do some really wonderful things in that fandom for charities and such as well as visiting nursing homes and hospitals to cheer kids up... I hope you may try and do your research a bit better before having these negative feelings about the fandom.

Hope I've helped clear that up a bit!

You haven't cleared it up. The normal, nice human beings who do help others are the minority of your subculture. I know you're going to keep trying to correct me after this so this will be my last comment here.

I haven't had any bad experiences with them, I've merely observed them over a decade both online and offline.

I dislike the fact you think anything I reply to this is coming after to correct you. Think what you'd like, I only wished to point out your generalization was not fully thought out considering all the parts within the fandom are not all the same. Whether you do anything with that or not is up to you.

I wish you'd not act like I'm attacking you considering it's not in the slightest... You're also incorrect in your presumption, it is not my subculture considering I'm not even in the fandom.

"I dislike the fact you think anything I reply to this is coming after to correct you...I wish you'd not act like I'm attacking you"

I'm used to this happening on the internet, especially DA. Another assumption, I know, but I'd rather not play a game of chance on whether or not I'm talking to a mature person or not, hahaha!

" I only wished to point out your generalization was not fully thought out considering all the parts within the fandom are not all the same."

I don't consider the few like CrystalNori to be furries. They are something else all together.

" You're also incorrect in your presumption, it is not my subculture considering I'm not even in the fandom."

My apologies. Your screen name is "Wolftale", so it's a little bit misleading. Wolves are the most popular species for them to use.

I'm thinking of getting pretty much what you've got here in terms of items here (feline base though and some other things like no LED and blah) and I'm wondering if you'd say it's worth it?

CrystalNori In reply to ContradictingCats [2012-10-15 14:30:24 +0000 UTC]

Well I ordered the blank uncut so all work putting it together was done by me. So far I believe it is worth it all the way. I've been wanting a suit for myself and don't have thousands of dollars to throw at it so to be able to do this? Way worth it! The only issue I have run into is the blank I received was somewhat thin and has cracked in two places. One is under one of the eyes so doesn't matter cuz I covered it up with glue anyway. The other is at the bottom of the mask where I was going to attach one of the springs. I have to reinforce it now and see if I can still use the springs. If not then I will use elastic so I can still have the talk jaw. I also got claws and the pawpads too and everything is very nice quality!

That's great!

I'm planning to get all the stuff a head needs so I can see what building a realistic suit on a resin base is like. (Cartooney foam heads get a bit boring for me after awhile D: )

It's definetly more of an investment than I make for foam, but from what I've heard is that it's worth it.

CrystalNori In reply to ContradictingCats [2012-12-09 15:44:35 +0000 UTC]

well so far I would say yes. I still haven't progressed that much since I still need to apoxie sculpt the lips and eyelids....then foam out the cheeks and such and then fur which I have never done so I am a bit nervous >.>

ContradictingCats In reply to CrystalNori [2012-12-09 18:13:48 +0000 UTC]

Furring is definitely a bit nerve racking! I'd actually make a test run with colored cheap fabric to test if your pattern works right! c:

Actually that is a fantastic idea thanks for the suggestion, might use that weird Hawaiian fabric I got a while back and had nothing to do with it...just to see how it fits over the mask. gah that is so helpful!
