Description I did the Cautery Sword before, but now it is time to raise the ante to a renowned blade in the Dragon Quest series!

Erdrick's Sword (Also known in Japan as Roto's Sword) is a powerful blade once used by the legendary hero Erdrick. It, along with the Shield, Armor, Helmet, and Mark of Erdrick, form the legendary set of arms held by Erdrick in the land of Alefgard, to be passed to his descendants in times of crisis.

In Dragon Quests 1 and 2, the blade is found hidden in Charlock Castle. It is the strongest weapon for the first protagonist in the series, but not the second protagonist (Prince of Midenhall), due to there being no one to maintain its edge in the time gap. One rumor said that this blade is able to easily cleave through the Dragonlord's scales, but the rumor is completely false. That being said, the blade IS needed for the final battle with the despot.

In Dragon Quest 3 however, the blade was known as the Sword of Kings. An earlier blade before the events of the game was destroyed by the demon lord Zoma. However, due to the blade's durability, it took the demon lord three years to actually break it. As such, a new Sword of Kings is needed, requiring the player to find a chunk of Orichalcum.

Interestingly, in Dragon Quest XI, an identical blade appears as part of the main plot, known as the Sword of Light, and was wielded by the Luminary's ancestor, the hero Erdwin, long ago.

And in 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' this is wielded by the protagonist of Dragon Quest III if the player chooses him as the skin of 'Hero'.

I only take credit for the pixel creation, nothing more. Playing 'Dragon Quest of the Stars', I was very fortunate to get the blade in the Gacha and has been my mainstay weapon since.

On an added note, the runes on the blade are actually done in the European runic alphabet. When translated, the runes read 'Dragon Quest'.
