Clara was kept warm and cosy in the bakery surrounded by fresh bread. Her Mami says the smell of warm food made her hatch so fast, they never even saw her come out of her egg.
Clara's fondest memories are of her Papi letting her taste the dishes before he takes them out to customers of his local restaurant, the Belly Drum Eatery.

Emil was hatched in a huge family clutch with all the generations' cousins and brothers and sisters. He has a very big family! They fight a lot, but nothing is stronger than a blood bond, and his family is tight-knit and close.
Emil was born without one of his teeth-- it simply never came in. He became friends with Clara after she tried to guess how he lost his tooth and she couldn't figure it out.
