Issue 22 was the first ROM comic I ever got and given what a huge fan I have been of that title over the years I thought it was long over due to do a commemorative fan art piece. Lately I've done so much fan art of stuff that never happened in the Marvel Universe (even though it should have!) so I thought I'd change it up a bit this past weekend with a scene that did take place. Here's some stuff I've done of the battles that never happened but should have as well as recent homage art . . .Related content

My first issue was 24. Where Rom and Nova fight the skrulls.

yeah that one is a classic to both Nova and ROM fans.

No, there was talk about something between Universal and Hasbro... I'm trying to remember where I read it now but it came up recently when James Gunn was asked about which Marvel characters he wanted to use and he mentioned ROM. The reporter then mentioned something about Universal and Hasbro doing something with the character. When I find it again, I'll send it to you.

trust me it's much to do about nothing as far as ROM making any kind of real come back. trust me i've been hearing shit like this for years it's all just talk.

Still, be cool if the right person got hold of it and did something fun, even if it was to guest star in a Transformers movie.

can't imagine any sort of scenario that would have ROM in a Transformers from a story line stand point. aside from that the TF movies have sucked so bad. it did get off to a great start with the first one but since then the movies have been progressively shitty. i walked out at the theater half way in the 3rd one and i didn't bother with the 4th it looks horrible from the clips on youtube i've seen. nothing short of ROM being something of a fixture in the Marvel Universe again will give me reason to celebrate anything but that seems highly unlikely.

I used to collect ROM when it was coming out, yes, that definitely dates me. The issues were a challenge to locate because of poor distribution in my neck of the woods.

I`m in east Canada, actually. Where I live, there wasn`t a comics shop until the mid-80`s, so I had to get what I could off the convenience store racks. It was difficult to get a decent run of any series that way, but especially this one.

interesting angle, it´s like it was shot by a "casual" camera like "Man of Steel". Like, it´s not that "in your face" Marvel style in which you have all the muscles well framed. Somehow it makes Rom more real, with regular proportions.
