Ah, sorry it took so long to reply!
Anyway - always glad to help! It took me a long time to find proper prop tutorials, and I'm happy to pass them on. Please let me know if you have any questions, or need some more pictures. (I reply much faster to direct questions, really!)
If you're looking for a place to order polystyrene, I got mine from this site: [link] - look under "high impact styrene sheet." You'd want size .020 - I believe I ordered two sheets three years ago, and I've still got lots left.

OMG! i cant believe somebody actually made this!
and you made it look sooooooo good! *O*
I'm currently making my own Lia costume and i was cracking my head open trying to think how to make this sword. I was going to buy a metal sword, put it under my dress and run pass the guards at the convention ~_~
do you mind if i take some notes from your work? this picture will really help ^^
you're the first one I've seen to make this sword like this and i don't want to be stealing no methods.

Oh please, be my guest! I'm flattered. If you'd like more/larger images, send me a note.
I'd be happy to answer any questions. Most of my building was based on Amethyst Angel's tutorials: "Armor and Prop Making for the Fiberglass Phobic" [link] and her "Master Sword" tutorial [link]
Good luck!

I told you other people knew this series! My Mass roomies love my sword, too. I'm trying to convince them that it belongs in the kitchen. Our walls are awfully bare, and the light reflecting from the surface of the blade would make the room seem larger, according to design gurus on HGTV.

Yes, I'm sure Proper Decorating With Swords comes up ALL the time on the Home and Garden Nework...
I know I'd watch!

Maybe we should film a pilot.... And I don't think, even given the varied assortment of swords available, that we should limit ourselves. How about Proper Decorating With Weaponry instead?

Thanks much for the compliments!
If my designs help you at all, you're welcome to look. I HIGHLY recommend Amethyst Angel's sites, though:
Armormaking for the Fiberglass Phobic: [link]
(Gives you an idea of good materials to work with)
Prop Blog: [link]
(I went through until I found some sword tutorials: Try the Master Sword from Zelda to build the base)
The biggest breakthrough for me was learning about polystyrine, a thin, flexible plastic which is very good for gluing over balsa wood and craft foam.

No problem! Prop building can be intimidating at first, I know. Good luck!
(And oh good, there ARE other people who have heard of this show! I was starting to wonder...)
