Okay, first thing that I want to say is that I am so incredibly sorry for such a late response. I had midterms, which turned into finals, which turned into a whole entire whirlwind of stuff, and before I knew it, I was more than one month late in getting back to you, when you put so much care into this gift. I wanted to actually find some time to sit down and write a thoughtful response rather than a fleeting "thanks, it looks nice," which was why I put off on responding for so long (that, and my social media presence has been rather dead recently. Whoops.)
But you get better every single year, because if you compare the color theory of the stuff you did last year to the color theory of this piece, dang, you have made a huge stride! Your atmospheric lighting has gotten much better, and I love the drama that you have in the shadowing in their faces! It's a very intense piece, and you did a very good job of creating that feeling.
But I think I love the dynamic that these two have as well, since they are pretty much polar opposites, and they foil each other. The scenerio that I conjured for this was that Aaron went and did something really stupid, and they are both arguing about what to do to fix the situation, with Lex arguing the less ethical way, and Victoria arguing for the converse. The character interactions in this piece is so good, and it gives the viewer so much room to imagine. I love it!
Also, I noticed that you drew the proportions on their faces differently, and it fits so well! The expressions are also absolutely perfect! I think you've gotten just about everything revolving around character nailed, because dang! Even if someone who was not familiar with the characters were to take a glance at this piece, I think they would be able to get a ballpark of the two's personalities because of how articulately you captured Lex and Victoria.
But I love this to pieces. I really do! I can tell that a lot of time and care went into this, and I am so sorry for the incredibly late response, because such a beautiful piece deserves better. Thank you so much!
On a side note, another reason why I am so very late in my response was that I was planning on drawing out a response piece to answer your prompt of "what might be happening." But hahahaha that never happened.
