Because it took me FOREVER to catch the right Togepi with the correct Nature and since I caught so fucking many I was ecstatic when it evolved from ugly Togetic to Togekiss. If Togepi was real I would have beaten it until it evolved into something cuter. Togekiss is rly cute :I.
