"Boooring", Riseos moans.
"Boooring", Velocitas echoes in an identical tone.
Sesh and Daraiphios exchange a silent look. The Black Mamba rolls his eyes, the Reticulated Python sighs. "Seriously", Sesh says. "Would you mind and act your age? You just finished guzzling your meal, relax for once!"
"I relaxed during the car trip already", the Bastard Python replies and stabs with his fork after a napkin which Velocitas waggles before his face.
"Yes, because I was the one driving", Sesh retorts in a dry tone. "Goodness, it's still early - we have the whole day to use."
"Precisely!", Riseos says passionately. "The rarest Flying Beasts can only be seen in the early mornings. If we stay here under this stupid pavillon any longer, we won't see anything. Or did we do the whole long trip only for eating and sitting about like some lazy bums?"
Velocitas does a pitiful noise.
"Exactly. Wouldn't that be a shame?"
It's one of the rare days where they got nothing to do, everyone being available at the same time; thus, it wasn't only a good idea but also a nice consequence to do a trip together. The suggestion came, as almost always, from Riseos and so, they agreed to leave the city for a day in the green country - especially since Velocitas had never been at the Water falls before.
Great weather and some time full of relaxation and idleness were what Sesh and Daraiphios were looking forward to. Riseos, however, must have told Velocitas about the local fauna the night before. The result was some unnerving whining which had lasted for the whole car trip and could only be temporarily stopped by the meal under the pavillon (and it was some kind of behaviour which she would have never allowed herself if she would have been travelling with Sesh or Darai alone. Riseos' presence had that certain effect on her, turning her into the same kind of bundle of energy like he was. And so, they both fueled themselves with their equal excitement during the whole car ride).
And here we go again, the plate barely emptied, Sesh now thinks to himself and he observes how a White Coat in his fifties and a Sifre in her mid thirties squabble with each other like some kids. At first, he feels like shaking his head; but then, some mild smile appears on his lips. It's good to see her like this. It's good to know that in Riseos, she has someone who isn't sometimes overwhelmed by her youthful energy.
And yet, he doesn't feel any urge to get up for some adventures, searching for Beasts in the jungle. An opinion that Daraiphios apparently shares.
"Bah. You childish nuisances", the Black Mamba grumbles as he leans back. "Wild horses couldn't drag me from this chair. I don't give a shit what you do, but on my agenda, there is nothing but food coma for the next hour."
Riseos boos at him. Velocitas again does one of her pitiful bird noises. She then looks at Sesh, with big Falcon eyes. He groans, lifting his hands in defence.
"Ni-Velo, please don't give me that look. I'm really sorry, but this time, I have to side with Na-Rai. I just want to sit here and read a book."
She lowers her head in disappointment. It surprises him how much this sight actually hurts his heart. "We could come after you, later!", he quickly adds.
"What do you mean, 'we'?", Darai asks with some terse rhetoric and stretches himself some more.
Riseos, meanwhile, stands up; he does a sound that resembles a "Tsas!" and gets out his camera. "Alright, whatever! You bums stay here; as for me, i'm going to the Water Falls now, catching Beasts. Birdie, you join me? The cripple and the bore here would scare all the cool stuff off anyway."
Velocitas mumbles something; then she also gets up, with a camera of her own.
"Bums!", Risi mocks yet again.
"Seriously!", Velocitas agrees passionately.
Sesh opens his book, shrugging. Darai uses his undamaged hand to reply with some dismissive move. They both then watch the Bastard Python and Peregrine Falcon going their way. And of course, even that doesn't happen in a civilised manner. Within the 20 metres before they disappear, she already stole his hat, he tripped her up, nudging and pushing and punching. Eventually, she hops on his back and he carries her off like this.
Again, Sesh and Daraiphios exchange one look.
"Whaddaya say", Darai says. "Was it a smart move or some dumbass decision that we now have to endure this combination for the whole day?"
Sesh smiles mildly. "Both, I'd say."
