My noble Persian Memento, always remembering his enemies of how powerful his Thunderbolt-attacks are. Houdini, my Alakazam, my special-attack-specialist. Siggi, my Golduck and Kappa in disguise, mastering every sea and lake there is. my Arbok Sepsis who could not only kill you with venom but also with Earthquake-attack. Bunting, sly fox and best friend of mine. And Kafka, my silent, misunderstood but powerful mutation.
After being so spoiled by beautiful 3DS-graphics, i felt the urge to step back and play Pokémon Red again. All these pixels, no DV stats or even genders back then, no abilities, nothing that like that and it was still somewhat possible to actually catch them all. Absolutely relaxing. (that old box system, though. Being not able to catch anything when the box is full is just a mess ARGHLALA).
And: Man, what a nostalgic dive that was. I've played Pokémon from the very start, when they came out in the 90s, the Red Edition being my choice. 16 years later and i still get super excited whenever the next generation comes out. I'll most likely still catch Pidgeys when i'm 64.

Awesome team man, my favorite Pokemon has always been Golduck since the beginning. It was my first one to level to 100 and it's great to see it shown some love. Also great drawings. Makes me want to play my Red version again just for kicks.
I don't remember all of my first team (I had I think 10 that I would switch around with) but I know I had: Golduck, Sandslash, Scyther, Electabuzz, Rapidash, and Snorlax. Golduck always stayed though.

My first Pokemon Edition was Blue the day it came out in germany. It was a strange day, I was barely 12 years old, and my hype for Pokemon was really really big. My Parents and me had to visit Hanover the next big city to my hometown, and I had to visit a doctor, cause my leg was heavily damaged in kindergarden. After those visits we always went into town and then I saw One big Tortoise and One big Charizard as displays for the versions. I was a silent child, never begged for something but in this moment my heart was beating from excitment. We left the city and all I was able to talk about was Pokemon, I told my mum wich was my favourite, wich I would pcik first, what nicknames i would give em and all this, and then my mom pulled out a Squirtle plush of her bag and gave it to me, it was not the game, but I was so thankful, she picked up squrtle because it was a turtle and she knew I loved turtles since ever. With no clue about Pokemon she picked the best. I was happily playing with squirtle while we were on our way home. Then I remember eating dinner at McDonalds and I played with my Squirtle on the playground outside of the McD´s.
We arrived home late this evening and at home my mome blasted my childheart when she pulled out Pokemon Blue and if I remember right, I had massive tears of joy. And then my parents allowed me to play longer this evening because the next day was a saturday.
I started with Squirtle what else (My Plushie was always on my side) I had also a Butterfree, a Muk, a Pidgeot the rest was changing from time to time till I got all 150 in the Dex.
After this I played every version from the regular Game. Red, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Saphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum,HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, White, Black2, White2, X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Saphire.
And most of the Spin Offs Like Colloseum, XD, Stadium 1and2 Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, everything :-D

Ach, war das schön. Damit beschreibst du ziemlich treffend das, was ich selber damals durchgemacht habe. Genau der gleiche Fan-Hype, genau die gleiche Zeit, genau die gleichen Emotionen. :') Der Zufall wollte es auch, dass ich damals den Fernseher einschaltete und mehr durch Zufall genau zu der Zeit die erste Folge des Anime ausgestrahlt wurde. Ich war also wirklich von Anfang an mit dabei. Als dann auch wenig später die Spiele veröffentlicht wurden, war der Hype nochmal umso größer (leider hatte ich keine so coolen Eltern - die haben mein Gewese um Pokémon noch nie nachvollziehen können und noch viel weniger, dass ich IMMER NOCH voll dabei bin 
Was dir dein Schiggy war, war mir stets Glumanda. Affinität zu Drachen/Echsen/Schlangen und so. Und ja, ich habe seither auch fast jede Generation von Pokémon mitgemacht und werde heute immer noch genauso euphorisch auf jede neue Generation wie ich es damals bei Rot und Blau gewesen bin. Eigenartig, wie sich ein im Grunde so einfaches Spieleprinzip, welches sich zudem über all die Jahre nie wirklich geändert hat, so effektiv halten kann.

Ja aufjedenfall. Ich bin mittlerweile fast 29 und es ist mir ziemlich egal was andere dazu sagen, ich lauf mit meiner Pokeball snapback rum, hab Gengar auf dem Arm tatowiert und liebe einfach was i9ch Liebe, Never grow up!

This is such an awesome idea, I have to do this too! I am so jealous that I'll probably never be able to draw pokemon in such an amazing style. You totally rocked it.
And the names for Team Silver and Team Red - wonderful. Wish I was that creative with mine!
(My Pikachus are always named 'Sparky' like the one from Richie in the Series and my Scyther always 'Masamune' like in the Series too... even though it was a scizor there, but I always wanted him to level up... he never did though. Poor Masamune.)

Beautiful and amazing. It makes me so nostalgic ^^. I used to love Noctali. But I also had Mew,Celebi, Lugia (which I loved too), and Vulpix (not his evolution but that was because I used to find him so cute ^^). But I love Ninetales too. I had also others but I don't remember them. My favorite starters were always the fire ones. I had Charmander and then Cyndaquil. I love them both. After I don't know the new versions really. I remember playing at Eitae first because my parents didn't allow me to have video games when I was little. But after she was always lending me her games and I took them home (they still wouldn't allow me to have video games). What are best friends for eh ^^?

I remember starting with Red so many years ago. My sister had Blue and I believe so did my friend down the street. When we started, one person caught about 8 Pidgeys so each of us could trade and then later trade back. Yes, we had the potential to get all 150... I stopped at 149 (never bothered to evolve that Weepinbell before stopping). I also never used the other starters (besides my own), other than to evolve them. Anyhow, my team was :
* Charizard (Still my fave starter of all the generations)
* Alakazam (seemed to have better stats than Mewtwo to me)
* Articuno (The only bird I enjoyed using in that gen)
* Raichu (Thunder Wave was potent, and Swift guaranteed I could damage nearly anything)
* Raticate (Even if he didn't live long, Super Fang would make sure he left an impression)
* Arbok (The best capturing Pokemon I had. Glare would be more than likely to Paralyze the target, then Wrap could very slowly and safely drain its HP until there was but a sliver remaining. He could also even cause a moderate amount of damage to nearly anything (including rock-types) before having to be swapped)
Perhaps I should eventually get around to trying that Fire Red cart I got, since I heard they cleaned up some of the glitches and problems with the original. Regardless, I will enjoy the memories and continue enjoying your art. Take care.

I played a pokemon game for the first time last November, when my friend lent me her FireRed. I picked Charmander as my starter, and my most used throughout the game was Charizard, Raichu, Jolteon, Articuno, and...well I've forgotten haha.
Someone else recently lent me pokemon White and I've played it little by little. Tepig was my starter, I have a thing for fire, it seems.

I started with yellow, where you don't get to choose a pokemon, but are given a pikachu, which just like in the show, refuses to get into his pokeball and follows you around instead. I got the set, where it came with a special edition pokemon gameboy color.
I got that thing when I was 10, and it got played 'till I was 25 and gave it to a new 10-year-old. It got dropped in the bath and the pool I don't know how many times, and got sprayed for an hour by the sprinklers, and it STILL WORKED.
I always kept Pikachu with me, then the rest of my team was usually a Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, one of the Eevee-lutions, and a Pidgeot (not always).
I kinda want to go on ebay and get it again...but I know if I did I'd never get anything done.

Amazing art. I personally also started with Red, but the only other game I played through was gold. Haven't really had enough interest to keep up since, although I still immensely enjoy pokemon fanart. Always chose Charmander because I loved Charizard so very much. There were a lot of pokemon that I loved in different playthroughs, but I don't feel like looking up their english names^^

... Hab nach der ersten Edition die weiteren Spiele nicht mehr gespielt. Tja, bei mir hat es wohl trotz aller Freude daran nicht so eingeschlagen. Fühl mich beim Lesen der Kommentare hier alt, hab aber auch übel Lust gekriegt, auch nochmal meinen alten Game Boy rauszuholen und meine blaue Edi neu durchzuspielen. Erst recht, wo es nun im Internet lauter Cheats gibt, wie man auch ohne Tauschen angeblich alle 150 bekommt, har har har.
Aber auch mein alter Speicherstand von vor über 15 Jahren, der vermuuuutlich weiterhin noch gespeichert ist, würd mich interessieren - was für Namen hab ich damals all meinen lieben Viechern gegeben?

Ooooh, der große Anfang einer neuen Welt...Q.Q Nostalgie, Nostalgie. ich hatte auch die rote Edition und habe mich ebenfalls sofort in mein kleines Glumanda verliebt. Durchgespielt habe ich es damals mit Glurak, Tauboss, Flamara, Blitza, Aquana und ein Sichlor. Ich hab sie alle geliebt!
Und es war so schade, dass es nachher immer schwieriger wurde alle 150 Pokis zu bekommen. Und erst dreizehn (!) Jahre Später hatte ich sie alle beisammen. ich war so Happy! Und dann kommt so ein dummes Kind und löscht und überspielt den Spielstand....An diesem Tag starb ein Stückchen Kala. Q.Q
Ich hatte auch die Gelbe, die Goldene, Rubin die Diamant, die Schwarze (die schlechteste wie ich finde), die schwarze2, X und nun bald auch endlich Omega Rubin. (Da will ich endlich das SPiel komplett mit Evoli-Evolutionen durchspielen! *___* *heavy breathing* Ich freue mich schon auf dein Silver Team. ^^

My first game was Pokémon Sapphire. I always had this issue of my younger brother deleting my files, so I do not remeber which mons I chose. I think they were solely water types: Swampert, Pellipper, Tentacruel, Ludicolo, Relicanth and Lanturn.

i started on silver, the pokemon i associate myself with is abra, and i have a fun little story about him, i have an OC when i play all the pokemon games, my favorite team is (Abra, Growlithe, Mew, Grimer, Pidgey, and Kabuto) i never evolve the abra, though nowadays thats ok cause of stat training

Die "Blutvergiftung" ... "Erinnere dich an eine Katze" ... Einzig das MewTo Kafka zu nennen hat mich im ersten Moment ein wenig irretiert. Dann dachte ich aber wieder an "den Brief" und ... jupp... passt.
Von Pokémon war ich (vielleicht irgendwie leider) nur von der Serie geflasht. Die Games zogen größten Teils an mir vorbei.

Awesome team. I am a Pokemon fan myself. I started with all Red, Blue, Yellow and Green never beat them from beginning to end. Those games were gifts from my cousin however I donated them to charity when I was thirteen. Heartgold and Soulsilver were the games I was really good at along with Pokemon Y. My Kalos team consists of Delpfox, Kingdra, Sylveon, Flygon, Gengar, and Lucario. My Heartgold team was Gyardos, Typholsion, Ho-Oh, Primeape, Umberon, and Ampharos.

Aber für mich war nach den neuen 150 Pokemons schluss. Mir gefielen die einfach nicht mehr.

Na ja, ich war auch nicht ganz so dick in der Szene - vermutlich war er damals in iiiirgendeinem Videospielheft zu lesen, oder so? Oder bist du am Ende total unverhofft über Mew "gestolpert"? Bei dem bisschen dass ich damals über Pokemon in Fachzeitschriften las, hieß es damals, Mew hätte es in Japan zu wenigen besonderen Anlässen zum "Downloaden" gegeben.

Nee, mein allererstes Mew hatte ich mir erst 2010 gefangen (vorher hatte ich vom Glitch noch keine Ahnung. Shice, das hätte ich mal 15 Jahre früher wissen müssen - dann wäre ich auch der KING gewesen. D8). Sammelkarten habe ich früher ebenfalls gesammelt, allerdings habe ich mittlerweile nur noch die behalten, die ich besonders schön oder sonstwie bedeutsam finde (z.B. sämtliche Vulpix/Vulnona 8D )

My first generation game was actually yellow, but I played my older brother's all the time. This is also during the original releases of both. Charmander was always my favorite and the only times I changed from the fire starters, it because they were dumb to me >_> My team in Yellow was Charizard, Pikachu, Butterfree, Nidoking or Nedoking, Alakazam, and Vaporeon.

I started out with Generation 2 [Silver was my first] when I was 4 or so. I shared my game with my mom though, since I couldn't exactly read very well; she would get me to where I needed to go and deal with plot-related things, and I would catch Pokémon and train them. I'm pretty sure I wasted our Master Ball on a Fearow on Route 26y to Victory Road, actually. xD
Our team consisted of Feraligatr, Umbreon, Ampharos, Hypno, Lugia [Which I actually caught by sitting on my Gameboy....yeah, I totally bought into the whole A+B+Down button-mashing thing to catch Pokémon, and was a bit of a radical when it came to getting what I wanted.], and Entei, which I caught with a Great Ball, actually. Neither of us really knew about the whole "evolves when they're happy" thing with Eevee, so he actually ended up evolving at a level 50 in Claire's gym. xD

My first was red, and my brother got blue at the same time. I started writing this not able to remember my original team outside of Charizard, but then I remembered Gyarados, Pidgeot, and Jolteon, and then I think Marowak and Arcanine.
