Description
Myself as Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Photo taken by Claire [Final_Memories] at Anime Expo 2006. The original photograph suffered from poor lighting [hence the graininess], but I've always really loved the atmosphere of this shot and kept it tucked away in hopes of salvaging it one day. After tinkering around in Photoshop for a while, I came up with this: An admitted emulation of the grainy, desaturated photographs featured in the FFVIII opening credits. I'm sure there are those who could do so much more with this, but I'm fairly content with my results. [If anyone would like to try their hand at it, I would be more than happy to send them the original file. <3] Ironically, I am replaying FFVII at the moment and have been been venturing through the slums in my free time. It really is striking, how much this location reminds me of that area! As always, costume and wig constructed by myself.Please no critiques/criticism. I'd like to keep this gallery happy! <3

Thank you for the compliment, but I've never seen her name spelled "Aris." Depending upon translation it can be either "Aerith" or "Aeris." I choose to list my costume as the former because I've been told it is the properly romanized spelling of the Japanese. The "th" is pronounced as an "s" - hence the in-game spelling "Aeris." In the end, it's all a matter of which spelling you prefer, so I wouldn't recommend you go around correcting people. ^__^;

Oh dear, I didn't know that, I just thought it was wrong. I've played through the America version of the game so many times I've only seen it spelled that way. Sorry about that.

It's okay, I totally understand! Japanese/English name changes can be confusing, and often times even the official English language release of the game does a poor job translating them from the Japanese alphabet to ours.

I really like it, it looks like something that could have been taken in the Slums. You could have actually made the graininess a LITTLE bit worse and it would have looked like it was captured on CCTV as that is the images it conjurs to me.
