Character: Super Sailor Venus

Construction Notes:
In my experience, you have to be pretty lucky to cosplay Venus. She's one of the more popular senshi and she usually gets snapped up SUPER FAST in cosplay groups. So when my friend Windaria mentioned that her group was missing a Venus, I leapt into action without a second thought! XD

I had previously made one sailor fuku (Eternal Neptune), but I wanted Venus to match my group as much as possible. This meant trying out some new processes and techniques, namely Kathrine Zan's super fuku pattern. I always feel more comfortable when I'm sewing from a pattern, so this was a nice change from working on Neptune, where I basically cobbled a bunch of other patterns together. The leotard is made from matte athletic-weight spandex, the skirt is made from taffeta (which I like because it has a bit of crispness but still drapes so beautifully), and the bows are made from casa satin. Windaria cast the beautiful heart brooch from resin to match the rest of the group, and I made the tiara from craft foam and gold spandex using Kathrine Zan's tutorial. The wig is an Arda Venus in Platinum Blonde.

For a character that I never thought I'd cosplay, I really enjoyed being Venus! (And hey, I can check another Sailor Moon character off my list. Gotta cosplay ALL THE MOONS.)
