god i love this
the style
it fits so well. i still can't comprehend how natsume does it, and it's been around a year ago or more.
but great job, i think you portrayed this extremely well. no need to scrap, the style works. c:

Ah, thank you! I always admire people who are able to utilize a minimalist style and express emotion so well. Ono is just so talented, I love reading her works. C:

Natsume Ono is amazing at creating these compelling characters that you absolutely adore and then she just murders you with their terrible lives. xD
Jim's my favorite! But Ian is just so cute that who couldn't love him. <:

totally...Jim is my favorite...hes such a likable character! I felt so bad for Ian...my favorite and most hated part was when he went to see his sisters boyfriend and it turned out to be the pimp guy...um...I also loved the part when Jim saw Ian outside his house...that desperate look on Jim's face let you know he really missed Ian.

It's sooo depressing, but I love it way too much to not keep forcing myself to be depressed by it. xD But thank you very much!

Thank you very much! Ono can just convey so freaking much with so little, it's hard to compare. D:
Always awesome to see other fans, though. Her work is just so bloody good. ;A;

I knowwww! I think the simple looking drawings really made it even more heartbreaking. If it was serious artwork, I probably wouldn't have felt the same way. But those simple drawings just made everyone look so innocent, and for that innocence to be shattered by such horrible things really made it depressing.

Oh, you're making my heart break all over again. That book got me into Natsume Ono; not simple is my most treasured manga/visual novel. I love the hurt in their eyes.
I always interpreted that panel as a kiss, but it took me until the second time I read it to actually notice what it depicted (at first I'd skimmed over it) Somehow that realization of why Jim was so close made me feel close to tears.

Curenio In reply to paflion [2010-07-07 04:19:40 +0000 UTC]
Yes...! It wasn't until the second time I read it through as well that I noticed all of Jim's tiny gestures. That panel kills my soul about every time I see it. I just couldn't draw it, for some reason. It never felt right. Maybe that's why Ono hid their faces, I don't know.
But thank you very much! It's always nice to see fans of Natsume Ono's work around - her stuff is far too good to be so obscure.

I also saw mild jealousy in Jim when Ian was talking about that woman he'd met (not sure if her name is mentioned?) I was amused; this book makes me laugh and cry. Whatever the reason, Ono knew what she was doing.
The last, last image of Jim is something that stays in my heart. It's good that more and more people are hearing about her works such as Ristorante Paradiso and Sarai Goryou. Not to mention her yaoi works are also getting popular under her other penname.

I am pleased with your dedication, madame. And let me tell you, the antics of the super dorky shark-reef mafia leader are pleasing me greatly at the moment. I think it's the slicked-back hair and all-black three-piece suit.
There are entirely too many hyphens in this post.
