Hey everyone, I spent a while thinking about what I wanted this to look like, and here it is! I never got a sense from the books that Pern had an artisan culture, so I wanted to create a stylized type of art for Ista. I also didn't want it too complex just in case I had to draw it repeatedly. Hope you enjoy!All comments welcome. Shonen-ai warning.

im pretty sure there was a book, that mentioned artists, not really as a major trade (like harpers or weavers or healer) or maybe it was, but it was just a short story in one of her anthologies, so im not sure exactly what the story was, but yeah, they do have a art culture, its just not really mentioned i suppose, except in that one book. lol

"Red Star Rising"/"Dragon's Eye" (US) dealt with an artist... can't remember his name though. He ended up at Telgar and did pictures of the Weyr. He'd fallen afoul of Lord Chalkin of Bitra Hold if I remember.
I think at the time (given that it was Second Pass), the artists fell under the Harpers, but there wasn't a Harper Hall yet.

Yeah, I wish she talked about it more. You'd think Pern would have a whole different style of art and culture. She never talks about there being plays either, or concerts, just sort of parties.

which is ridiculous really if you think about it, because art is a mainstay of every single society on earth, and technically isnt pern just an offshoot of earth so they would have art!
if you think about it, even cultures that shun art as being evil still have art in one form or another!
its sad, it just goes to show that no matter how good an author you are, there is always something that isnt done perfectly! haha.

Wowza, I like it a lot! Especially the incorporation of the chinese dragons, in comparison to their current dragons. I looooove it.

Ooh. And the big entryway is blocked, but the littler ones aren't. So riders can get in, but dragons can't?

It looks like that, but all three entrances lead down the same passage, which is blocked. I just got tired of drawing rocks.
