Though I like the pose, I think it makes the front legs seem to a little too short and arm like.

No they look like if he moved onto all fours like his hips would be higher than his shoulders, well to me.
By the by if this comment has a joy symbol in the corner, that was an accident.

Pernese dragons are actually supposed to be like that - they're described as moving awkwardly on the ground because their forelegs are considerably shorter than their hind. I'm not sure if this dragon is meant to be Pernese or not, I'm just assuming based on the other features, lol.

One of the original two books at least mentions how awkwardly they move on the ground - don't remember that exactly, I'll have to dig them out now and reread them - but the reference I was thinking of is from Dragonsdawn when Sean Connell is thinking about how much he hates making Carenath walk because of his awkward gait... it's when they first fly together.

Hehe, no joy then?
You do see a lot of dragon depictions though where the shoulders are lower than the hips when they walk on all fours. Kaiserflames does this to a huge extent.

I've been playing with that look because it makes their body shape look less humanoid, something I'm always struggling with.

I didn't think that it fit in because I feel like I'm unjustly bashing your work.
I would see it as more humanoid as when a person is on all fours the hips are higher. I just think that shorter frontlegs may hinder them when on the ground.
This is probably why the books didn't have drawings. XP

Heheh, probably! I do appreciate the critique though, and I did have the arms longer in the first couple sketches, but they just looked not nice.
I'm glad the original books didn't have illustrations. A lot of the Pern artwork from that time period makes my skin crawl, except stuff of Ruth. For some reason he always looks good.

The only good that could (possibly) come of it is when fans argue about details. Like what the dorsal ridge looks like, whether they even have frontlegs (never understood that one)and all thoser things.

I don't really understand the head knobs thing. Maybe I was just not paying attention when I read the books, but I never remember her describing that.

Yeah, otherwise they'd be wyverns, not dragons. That must be a small group. There isn't even any official artwork with the dragons without forelimbs.

It seems to have something to do with think that firelizards have no forelimbs. So much for exact minature.

He has. He's just taken to riding on her shoulder everywhere, and climbing on everything.

He was described as being midnight blue with a short of speckling on his wing membranes. ^^

I redrew that area multiple times until I thought the anatomy was sound enough. The problem is that most animals either have shoulders for arms/legs or shoulders for wings, so that makes the pose really difficult to draw realistically. I did my best.

Of course. It was just something I notice.
I usually imagine, with creatures that have forelimbs and wings, that the forelimbs shoulders are in the 'regular' position and that the wing ball-and-socket joint it fused onto that same bone structure above it. So the sockets for the wings would stick out on the back.

That makes sense to a certain extent, it's difficult with the muscles as well though.

Agreed. Of course hexapeds (is that what we'd call them? lol. Maybe quadraped plus dual wings...I dunno.) have unfamiliar anatomy to us. That's just what I always figured, is that somehow the shoulder joint fused into two 'shouler'-like joints, one in the normal position, more or less, and one elevated over it, with some additional muscle and bone, for wings.
