Description
So...the story behind this one is that the boy is Pict, which was an ancient people in Scotland that went into battle completely naked save war paint. This boy hasn't reached manhood yet, but to get there, he has to capture his own kelpie (mythical water horse) to ride into battle. That last little bit is my own invention. Enjoy!Related content

This is a great picture, but the boy forgot one important detail about kelpies: their skin is like super-glue. Once you touch it, you become permanently stuck to it.

they need it tbh poor things always getting a bad press its not there fault people are what they need to it and when other animals do it its population control thats all the kelpies are doing to us trying to keep the population down a bit!

I thought that was more of a hippocampus...kelpies are supposed to look like regular horses, but with bullrushes for a mane. They shapeshift too I think. Still very cool tho

I see the Kelpie and it reminds me of this one series where a Kelpie actually killed a human. >.< Go, Pict! Show that Kelpie what you are made of!

That makes sense. In the mythology they were said to appear as a pony with a wet mane and tail, and when someone tried to ride it, the pony would drown its rider by diving into the deepest water. Giving it a fish tail was my own invention.

It is smart. The tail on the end reminds me of half-horse creatures that use to pull Poseidon`s water chariot.
