Description

A commission drawn for my good buddy: Summert1me-killer...The infamous brutal warlord and warlock from Irish myth...

Though Balor is a highly skilled warlord, his true talent is in his sorcery. Through centuries upon centuries of sedulous refinement, Balor has honed his magic of Conjuration and Transmutation to create the Fomorians: humanoids in only the most vulgar parody of the word. These bipedal monstrosities are a nightmarish gallimaufry of undersea creatures and terrestrial fauna. And of all the lessons Balor learned throughout his wretched life, the most important is to never be impetuous with magic. The destructive power of his one evil eye is a testament to being restless with the process of Alchemy.

wow, what a cool character design!

i like how you've been inspired by the baelor of the irish mythology:
this villain is certainly creepy, but also strong and fearsome!

nice details on the strained, veiny spots on his body, while his fat, yet sturdy physique indicates that he might be a chubby one, but he is very strong and not to be underestimated!
i like how you've drawn his feet/claws and his creepy hands with nails too, while his armour is nicely drawn and with good design+functionality, with the exception of the eye-less helmet, which is a strange defence for a wandering warlock dude.

i also like the design of his monstrous henchmen: they are small, but aquatic-like in appearance, ugly and angry as hell.
good armour design for them as well, and their poses+face expressions are good as well.

apart from that,Β Summert1me-killer's story in the description is very nice as well, and it shows us the true horrors of baelor's skills in dark magic.

all in all, its a great drawing, and i congratulate you, my friend!
keep it up!

I really like how King Balor turned out. We can see a part of him went into creating the Fomorians in his own image. No doubt this would give him a God complex of sorts.

PS
What is your views on the new Godzilla/Kong movie? Are you excited, or dreading?

You're welcome! As for Godzilla vs Kong, I'm leaning towards excited since I absolutely LOVED Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and while I'm a little worried over hearing that Adam Wingard (the guy responsible for the live action netflix remake of Deathnote), is the director for the film, I also learned that Michael Dougherty, the man behind both King of the Monsters, Krampus, & Trick r' Treat, was involved in the writing for Godzilla vs Kong, so that gives me hope that the next Monsterverse movie will live up to expectations. Time will tell of course, but I'm optimistic Β

King Ghidorah was fantastic in King of the Monsters, best portrayal of him in years honestly. I don't know how many Godzilla films in total you've seen yourself, but I'm of the opinion that after the Heisei era (the 80s & 90s entries of the series that followed after the original Showa era of films ended), Ghidorah wasn't handled as well as he should have been given his status as Godzilla's arch-nemesis. I could go into details if you want, but I don't wanna spoil the later films if you have a desire to see them yourself. While KOTM 2019 may not use the tried and true man in suit method, they did use motion capture for the CG monsters, including Ghidorah, and gave each of his three heads their own evil personality, which is really fun to watch & makes him feel like a character, not just a special effect. Also, they REALLY pushed the idea of Ghidorah being Godzilla's oldest and greatest enemy, a truly intimidating son of a bitch through and through, I was honestly impressed by how many times they managed to surprise me over the course of the film, it really felt like an oldschool Godzilla movie only with Hollywood effects (the good kind, not the Michael Bay kind lol). I enjoyed Godzilla 2014 when it first came out and I'm ultimately grateful to it for reviving the Godzilla series in the first place, but KOTM blows it out of the water completely, same goes for Skull Island (though I was always a G-Fan over a Kong fan myself lol). King of the Monsters reminded me of better times watching suitmation monsters beat each other up on the couch with my family as a kid, glorious stuff, so if you love old school giant monster action and unashamed craziness you'll enjoy King of the Monsters, you can tell the people who made this film were true blue kaiju fans who wanted to do Godzilla, Ghidorah, Rodan, & Mothra the justice they deserve. Go see it for yourself, and in an IMAX theater if possible, nothing beats feeling the floors shake whenever Godzilla & Ghidorah square off

P.S. if ya do see, be on the look out for Easter eggs galore, they sneak so many awesome references to kaiju history through out the movie, it makes it that much more rewarding if you're a diehard giant monster fan!

Great comment!

I totally agree.

Ghidorah is the Skeletor to the big G's He-man. I have many of the monster battle movies,

and you are right, there was a period were they seemed to lose sight of what to do with

the villain of the series. I like him best as a wandering super creature from space, and

that he is a goddamn dragon! It gives him this mystical mood that is perfect.

I am waiting with slight hope at the new movie, but like yourself, there are aspects that worry me.

I simply cannot trust these modern Hollywood writers. They don't have the wild mindset which

their predecessors had...The kind of people that gave us "Ghostbusters" and "Buckaroo Banzai!"...!

But if the Kaiju gods smile on us, we will have good times!
