papyrus and burgerpants were loud, weird, overenthusiastic kids so nobody else really wanted to spend time around them. they had the same bullies and some stuff in common, (namely being mettaton's biggest fans,) so it sort of made sense for them to hang out together and they were both over the moon to actually have a genuine friendship
