Description They weren't there, and she was relieved. Who are they? They are the ones; The ones that made her feel so down, the ones that were always looking for her to make a mistake. Where were they? She wasn't sure. Most likely off doing their own things or perhaps pestering some other innocent girl. But it didn't matter who they were to her. What mattered was that they weren't there; and that gave her a chance to be alone, a chance to be free-if not for only a little while. Where was she? She was on the stairs, her head buried in her arms trying her best not to cry, even though no one was there.
She looked up, still trying not to let the tears flow. She tried to think of other things as the tears threatened to overflow. She went to that same baby grand piano they had all those years. That same piano she played every day.
Her eyes stung as she thought of all the harsh words spoken to her on that day. She sighed lightly, convincing herself to think of other things, happier things. 'There is a bright side to everything' she would tell herself to help calm herself. She delicately placed her hands on the keys and closed her eyes, thinking of the piece she would play. When she decided she opened her eyes and played from memory. But something was wrong as she played. She never once made a mistake, that was certain. But the melody, it was wrong. Although the right keys were played, there was no feeling to it. She realized she wasn't using her emotions as she played. She kept her emotions locked inside just as she had her tears. Her wrists where stiff as they shouldn't have been, they should have been smooth and flowing and loose.
She knew what she had to do to fix it.
She had to let out her emotions.
So she did.

She let out her emotions as she played, so that there would be feeling to the music. But as she let out her feelings, so did she let out her tears. The tears were heavy and hot as they freely rolled down her cheeks. But she still played-she didn't need to see to play the piece, it being memorized. So she cried, and she didn't try to stop the tears. All her sadness was let out- no one was there to contradict her for crying. So she cried, and for that short while she was left alone. For that short while she was okay, for that short while no one was yelling at her, and for that short while

she let the tears flow
