tonight i shot the world premiere of alexander. whilst most submitted their colour digital head shots, half-lengths and full-lengths ... i submitted a bit differently to my agency.true that colour sells much better. yeah, whatever. i shoot for myself ...
colin is actually a very nice person. funny as shit.
canon eos1M2 ... 70-200/2.8L IS ... 250th/2.8 ... 800 iso ... colour stripped thru processes in ps7.

I assume you are not a RAW shooter?
Although your passion is clearly for yourself wouldnt shooting RAW still allows you to shoot and preview B&W however do the colour converstion in post production?

I was shocked enough when I found out there was an art photographer on DEVIANTART that also took celebrity photos. Not only celebrity photos - but dramatic and ARTISTIC celebrity photos (which is a rarity).
BTW Yes I'm completely ignorant of what goes on on DA; I admit it.
So then I browsed your gallery.
And to top it all... I find this tremendous, beautiful and intense photo of one of my MOVIE GODS, one of the best actors that ever lived.

I think my favorite thing about your photography is the drama the lighting always creates. What's that art term? Chiaroscura (sp?) It's something you don't see very often in photos of celebrities. Then again, you don't see black and white photos of celebrities all too often, either.
Either way, you add just the right touch of emotion and drama in every shot.

I think it needed a darker shade on the left side of the face; almost pitchblack to highlight his features, otherwise good

I like the way the entire left of the pic is dark. Quite superb.

I'm diggint the pictures that look like they were private shoots instead of premieres, you know? Like this one of Farrell (sp?). It's against the common grain of vertical headshots which are a little "expected". And it's tight focus, something I'm personally fond of as a photographer. Intimate. Not afraid to cut off and get the face. I like it, man.

The thing I love about him is the way he photographs, he's just got this photogenic quality that is hard to really place. It could be the hair.
