Amazing! I'm a big admirer of those I admire who can do stuff I'm not versed in. aka - Acrylics are a Pain in the Ass.

Man, Gabe, didn't you just start painting on canvas like a year ago? That's a hell of a handle you've got on something as fickle as acrylic.

Something I do like about this one more than the original digital version is that the woman's dress appears blood-spattered, perhaps by nothing more sinister than foliage trampled underfoot, nonetheless it adds an appropriately eerie detail.

My eye draws straight to the red, which I love. The flowers and plants in the foreground really contrast with the deep blues, and this works beautifully for the "opaque" bottom of the ghost's dress.

Really impressive dude.

Your traditional art is awesome, but I do have one problem with this picture. The red paint on the bottom of the ghost's dress looks messy to me, as if you accidentally mixed it with the paint for the flowers.

You mentioned how you liked some of the effects in your photoshop one but can't reproduce it in this one.

If I may, the fog seemed to make the digital one "pop". Indeed, it is hard to do this with acryllic, but if I know anything it's mixed media. Try a white colored pencil. you want to do this now that it is dry, you can get some really cool transparent effects with this method.

You'll probably never read that, but if you do, never be afraid of mixing media! I did a piece recently with Oil, pastel, latex, acryllic and hot glue. turned out pretty cool.

This is a very nice piece. I love the nervous/anxious look on the little girl's face, and the way you painted the subtle aura around the ghost lady, along with the moon-touched glow on the leaves of the trees. Stunning. You never cease to impress!

As others have mentioned, it was really interesting to watch the progress on this one. I was real shocked a few days ago when you uploaded a progress picture of it to Twitter and all the trees were gone. I think the new subdued blues really add a lot to it; it must have been hard coming to the decision to repaint all of that work. It was worth it!

A haunting painting (if you'll pardon the pun), and the presence of a ghost taking care of a young girl calls to mind Liaozhai's "Laughing Girl" from Tales from a Chinese Studio.

I'd recommend reading it, if only because there are acts of sex and violence that the Penny Arcade crew could genuinely endorse.

I think I prefer the first simply because the ghost is a bit more obviously a ghost. And the white trees.
