This Rainbow Brite Piece is based on a redesign by my friend Alpha2. We were toying around with the idea of updating Rainbow Brite characters at one point. It was one of the few girl's cartoon I enjoyed watching back then. Besides some silliness in the plot and the purpose to sell toys, I always thought the show had a slightly mature/darker tone in some aspects.Full redesign for Rainbow Brite & the color kids can be found here: [link]

Wow, love this picture, even though I know nothing about Rainbow Brite at all (apparently, she has to defend a color kingdom from getting drained by something shadowy.)

Rainbow Brite could not stay permanently as a girl of four years, so it has to grow, and if they made a remake of the series, I'm sure it would look exactly like your picture, I would like to see it next to the other characters in the series

I didn't do the redesign, I based the illustration on my friend's design. He did design all the other color kids as well.

well, not too sure what all is coming but they have announced a new line of dolls and shown the look of the design for rainbow herself on rainbowbrite.net. they state that so far for the fall of 09 there will be a doll made for rainbow, tickled pink and moonglo, and then also for starlite, sunriser and some new horse named shimmer. so check her new look out and keep your fingers crossed for the rest to look as good.

That is interesting. Didn't know about the official remake. When My friend and I were doing the redesigns, we actually did all the color kids as well. Have to get around to showing those sometimes in the future.

Great design, and i agree on the fact that the series was somewhat well developed for a childrens cartoon (or the 2 first eps were at least).
