No doubt. Sad thing is that it is still raging on thanks to the controversial ending Kishimoto gave us. I, begrudgingly, would've been fine either way if he made it satisfying, which he didn't.

Nope. Kishimoto was too embaressed by mushy stuff.  What he needed was a consultant of someone who has more experience when writing love stories. 

I don't like how Kishi turned Hinata into a mary sue into that story.  Hinata and Naruto were totally meant to be together.  The probably was is that Hinata should have been the main protagonist in this story not Naruto.  Because it was Hinata's crush.  She needed to be brave, she needed to be the one to combat conflict.  Hinata can not wait for Naruto to come to her.  She has to make the first move.  

Hinata had all this character development in the manga and then to revert and drop the ball like that in the "last movie".  Shame on you Kishi, shame on you!

You are right on that romance consultant. That is the most basic thing needed in making a good romance movie

I agree that I felt like her character arc was ruined and that they could/ should have done more with her if this was the ending that he had in mind, but because he didn't NaruHina came across in a way he didn't intend. Which is why I never could ship them together. I even came to watch The Last in an objective manner because if he did it right I would've begrudgingly accepted it, but he didn't.

Now I am forever condemned as a NaruSaku believer since he messed up the movie that supposed to persuade/ help me accept the ending.

The problem was is that Kishi still had the Male seeking female tsundere mindset.

What this story needed to be was a female protagonist being brave enough to finally ask out the male she loves.  But NO it was a cookie cutter, save the damsel in distress flick.

Here's what should of happened.  Its been a few years and it is Hinata's fault for putting off asking out Naruto on a date.  Hinata should already be brave enough to hang out socially with Naruto without passing out or whatever.  But she's absolutely terrified of going to the next step.  For first part of the film she had the perfect chance to say or do something, but in a ten second weakness she freezes.

Then after a scene of sulking and hating herself.  Hinata does a 180 and confronts Naruto.  PLOT TWIST.  The antagonist shows up.  Then there's a ninja mission.  And through out the entire process Hinata is thinking about finishing what she failed to do, but being a mission it would always be a bad time.

Now this sounds a lot like the premise of "The Last." However my version is that Hinata is already social and hangs out as if almost in the friends zone.  Not the usual Hinata says "hi," blushes and retreats home.  My version had an opportunity at the beginning and the throughout the entire film Hinata was twice as brave, but it was external conflict that prevented her to confess not the usual internal conflict.  She works up the courage, but is interrupted or an explosion goes of, and its just a bad time.  With Hinata regretting her chance from the beginning.  There is no cool down later the crisis just increases.

It would get so bad that took the midst of the most heated part of battle to say it.  Just like what happened the conflict with Lord Pain.  Because it worked with these characters.  And if there is a kidnapping of some kind.  It should have Naruto to be the damsel or something.  Because Hinata is the clear focus and Naruto should be cast as the clear McGuffin.

I think I just nailed it Hinata is the main protagonist and Naruto is the McGuffin.

That there would've been a far better version of what we got.

Seriously, Kishimoto, I don't want to tell you how to write your story, but if you wanted Naruto to switch from Sakura to Hinata you had a TWO YEAR time skip for them to grow close enough to get to this point. That and show more respect to the NaruSaku fans than blaming Naruto's feelings as part of his rivalry with Sasuke, that was just offensive and totally ooc for several different characters' personalities. There was just so many reasons wrong with that.

All he had to do was have Naruto basically sacrifice his feelings and to push Sakura to be happy with Sasuke at the end of the series and have Sakura, in turn, do the exact same thing for Naruto in The Last so he could be happy with Hinata. I'm sure a lot of other fans could have accepted that.

Yep.  But Kishi-trolling-moto couldn't do that.  It's Hinata's crush, she should have been the star NOT Damsel.

YES! WHAT HAPPENED TO HER THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE? SHE WASN'T EVEN ABLE TO WALK ON THE WALLS BUT HAD TO RELY ON A SCARF INSTEAD.

I just realized something crazy. A die hard NaruSaku supporter is not only in complete agreement with an apparent die hard Hinata fan, but we're holding a discussion that has yet to result in any mud slinging what so ever. We might just break the internet at this rate.

Yeah, you are the NaruHina and I'm the de hard NaruSaku. 

I've been supporting NaruSaku since WAY BACK, even when I didn't like her all that much, and I still proudly do. 

But just because I believe that would've been a FAR better ending, doesn't mean I didn't see the appeal of NaruHina. I wished the fandom could get along better like this instead of all of the hate. 

I mean, we both objectively agreed that Kishimoto screwed up the ending of his story and that it could've been much better, right.

Yep.  But you know what's worst than the NaruHina ending...

The SakuSasu ending...  What was that Kishimoto?  I see SasuSaku working in an ironical symmetrical sort of way.   If Sakura were to befriend Sasuke as a friend and not just to get a boyfriend, that would have been great.  When Sasuke lost his family as a child, he got classmates trying to befriend him to get something like a boyfriend.  While the boys were rude and jealous of Sasuke.  NOBODY tried to actually get to know Sasuke.

If Sakura could have done that.  Then I would have supported SakuSasu.  I was kind of hoping Sakura would have realized that near the end of the fight against Kaguya she would have a change of character but didn't.  She just said the same line as usual.  "I'm hopelessly in love with you."  And she is not wrong when she says hopelessly.

There were so many things wrong with that pairing, but the most basic is that Sasuke NEVER once showed romantic interest in ANYTHING what so ever. I had long thought Sakura got over the crush and just generally wanted to save Sasuke and be a team once more. I can't approve of this relationship.

It also annoyed me that the second Sasuke arrived on the battlefield Team 7 all regressed back into their 12-year-old selves and forgot the 5 years worth of development they had all gained. I was expecting Sakura, while staying in character, to stand up to Sasuke as a completely independent person the second he started going too far, but we got her fangirl tendencies that, we all long thought were over, once again instead. 

Fun fact: I heard that when writing the last chapter, Kishimoto hesitated of putting Hinata as Naruto's wife and that perhaps Sakura would be better suited for the role, but didn't due to the thought that it may "ruin her character" if she didn't end up with Sasuke. (Don't know if it's true or not)

I know right. I just like to think that the real reason was to make the next generation more interesting and if that was the case then it worked. 

Sarada is like the culmination of all of Team 7's best attributes while Boruto is like the fusion of Naruto and Sasuke. 

There are only 3 kids in the next gen that I don't like Chocho, glasses, and the purple haired Hinata clone.
