"I'm sorry,Love." Light said offering the box of tissues to L.. Light lowered himself onto the bed beside the detective.

"I haven't been sick since I was a child," L sneezed into the tissue and sniffled. "I move to Japan and let you live with me and you give me your cold. what is so amusing,Light Yagami, do you find enjoyment in my suffering?"

" of course not. "

"You are smirking." Light shook his head.

"Your sneeze was so adorable, it was so little and-"

"You are a strange person,Light."

" I can't help it if I love everything about you. I'll make it up to you, I promise." L sniffled, leaning back onto his pillow.

"Do you want me to stay home today?" The younger man offered but received no reply. "Are you angry at me?"

"There's no point in being angry, I am not happy about this, but it could easily have happened the other way around. I suppose this is the price I must pay for sharing my life with you." Light sighed and lowered himself onto the edge of the bed. He reached out and gently began to rub the detective's back.

"You know I love you, don't you?" The younger man asked.

"Sometimes you have a strange way of showing it."

"I'm not the only one though."

"I'm sure I explained to you my way. I am not romantic, you knew that before-"

"I know, you protect the ones you care about, it seems like you've been doing that a lot for not just me..my family-"

"I don't say this about many people, but I like your family."

"That's good to know. They love you."

"I'm not sure 'love' is the correct word as far as your father's feelings toward me. He tolerates me for your happiness."

"That's not true-" Light paused, waiting for L's coughing fit to pass. He stood once more, removing his jacket and kicking off his shoes. He laid down next to the ill detective, lying on his side to face him.

"Come here." He invited lovingly, pulling L close to him.

"Light-"

"It's okay. I'm staying home today, you're very precious to me and when you love someone and they don't feel well, you want to look after them." Light explained.

"Watari can-"

"I know he can. I'd like to be here for you too. I love you so much. Are you warm enough?"

"Yes. Are you sure you want to stay, I'm sure your father won't-"

"He's going to have to understand. You come first. I know you're not used to that coming from anyone other than Watari, but I want you to know what you mean to me." L lightly rested his palm on Light's cheek.

"You've already shown me that. You gave up everything for this."

"I don't regret it. You are my world, you're the only one I've ever truly loved and if I had to live in a world without you, I couldn't do it.I didn't know I could love someone so much. You're amazing and beautiful-"

"I'm not. I-"

"You are-"

"I'm sneezing-"

"Happens to everyone. "

"Coughing so much it's-"

"You're not going to talk me out of it. I mean what I said. You are beautiful and I love you. It doesn't matter to me if you're sick, not sick, having a bad day, whatever the case may be, I always love you the same. Just try to rest, Watari went to get you some medicine, he'll be back soon." L removed his hand, pulling the blanket tighter around himself and settled in Light's arms, resting against his chest.

"Light?" He called closing his eyes.

"Yeah?"

"I love you too." Light smiled as L fell asleep. He wouldn't trade these moments for anything. He would take several minutes to enjoy holding L before picking up his phone to call his father, it wasn't often that L lay in his arms this way but when the opportunity presented itself, he couldn't let it pass him by.
