Heh. There's a saying among trainers about certain Pokemon like Lucario, Lopunny and Gardevoir - "Be ready to answer the door when love comes knocking." Part of their non-human traits include something like this happening at some point - it's literally built into them and all but guaranteed if they've "grown up" with you, ie; gone through more than one evolutionary stage while on your team and been treated with care.
Developing romantic feelings toward trainers is partly a non-conscious choice due to their biology; their brains have emotional 'locks' that respond to someone they trust and are very familiar with, and the 'keys' to those locks range from sympathetic psychic resonance (in English, they get used to your mind and your thought processes being nearby) to a sense of smell and hormonal urges that are FAR more powerful than a human's.
Over time literally the smell and sound and sight of you triggers responses in their minds and bodies that at least initially they don't recognize and don't have total control over. And since you're probably around them a whole lot, those triggers forming is almost a given. So eventually the responses range from becoming "clingy" to trying to copy your hobbies and habits to outright pouncing on you with little or no warning when they've got you alone.
