Description When I was a child (around 8 years old) a group of us loved playing "Wonderland". We based our tales on what we knew about the stories "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" which- I must confess- was very little.
We understood the premise, as well as knowing a little about the main characters (Alice, Mad Hatter, Red Queen, etc) but that is where the similarities ended. Our world was a darker one, with more peril and far grander adventures. Consequently our Alice was a stronger figure- spunky, and with a fighters spirit. She carried with her a croquet mallet that could smash through everything except metal, and a ball which would always roll back no matter how far it was thrown.
This image is one of a series, each displaying variations of characters a group of imaginative children dreamed up many years ago.

This piece is an unframed origial with no reproductions. Mediums applied include Copic Sketch Markers, Metalic Gel Pens, and Watercolour. Price is as follows.
Unframed (19 1/2 x 14 1/2): $95.00

Oh- Thankyou!

It was a fun picture... One- it was interesting to bring a made up character (one I used be pretend to be) to life.... And Two- I'd just purchased a selection of Copic Markers- and that was my first test run of them.

I'm afraid of the scary copic markers, I use colored pencils. XD

Copics CAN be scary... But once you get the hang of them, they're great... Here's a few tips though (learned the hard way)
1) Use a softer paper.... The harder the paper, the faster the marker dries... A softer paper also absorbs the streaks- taking away the streaks in the colour, and doing some of the blending for you.
2) Have another piece of the same paper next to you- and keep testing you colours before you use them. Starting out with a light colour and working your way up, will show you how they darken... Plus sometimes when you layer on colour over another- interesting things happen... This can be good for you- or it can be bad... the extra sheet takes away the "oops" factor.
3) ALWAYS layer your colours on top of one another starting from light to dark.... This makes sure the colours blend together for a smoother look.

Don't give up on them yet... It took me a while, but those markers are WICKEDLY awesome once you get the hang of them....

Oh- and I'm not knocking coloured pencils.... I personally think they're a girls best friend!
