I think you did a great job with the colouring - I love the style here!Β Fantastic facial expression too. =)

I noticed you said some people have told you they like your cartoony style over this style. I have to say I disagree somewhat. This style is quite good in my opinion, and I feel as though I've been watching it develop with each drawing you've submitted recently. Your sense of lighting and shape/volume/proportion have improved significantly! Most importantly though, you seem to enjoy it, and that's what matters most. Sure, it's nice to make things for other people once in a while, but so long as there aren't any client obligations (commissions or something), then you should do what you like to do as an artist.
I can certainly see why some people might like your former/other style better. For one, it's what most people are used to seeing from you. Another reason might be because it was perhaps more "established." That is, you were more used to it, and weren't experimenting as much. You new style, or shall I say improving style, probably seems like a drastic change from before. It might even have the same inspirational roots and particularities that you used to have--which I think it does--but it is carried out with different technique, if that makes sense.
For this picture specifically, I really like what you've done with the lighting! The face is pretty well constructed as well. Just a small issue (which can be kind of glossed over because headshot) is that his left shoulder doesn't seem to be wide enough. The forehead also seems a little off model from your current ID picture, but then again that could be a thing you're still tweaking. Other than that, it's pretty good!

When you were drawing in the cartoony way you seemed most alive, your definitely maturer this way and more thoughtful but quieter and more predictable in a sense.
