DAMN... I would LOVE a set of those...
The coffee house that I sometimes hang out at has a weeping angle statue... however, it's missing it's arms, and head, and pieces of it's wings are hacked off... with sword marks still visible on the statue from when the Templars had attempted to destroy it (they were unable to completely destroy it, and the coffee house, which is a Vampyric themed coffee house, keeps it on the patio area, exactly how the Templars left it all those centuries ago...)
It does kinda make you wonder, what with all that was going on during the Crusades, why the Templar Knights were so hell bent on attacking a weeping angel statue, eh?

Oh hell yeah... yeah... if I remember my Sir Walter Scott, in Ivanhoe, he mentions the Templar, and his uncanny knack of not blinking... I believe it's in one of the first chapters... with the Norman noble, and the Templar's disdain towards the Saxon peasant...
1066, Hastings... Not Enough Saxon Violence! (yes, I used to have that on a T-Shirt, with the Bayeux Tapestry, and the font was made to look like a Mediaeval Latin style)

Maybe that not blinking was a trained defense mechanism to battle the Weeping Angels, and the imagery of the Angel being embrased by the Roman Church, was due to some unholy union with their species? That would explain a war between the Templars and the statues, as it would seem there was an infiltration being perpetrated at the time... and that would also explain the Holy Roman Church's attempt to exterminate the Templars... and the animosity between Rome, and the Free Masons, due to the Masonic ties to the Templar Knights... and the Masonic symbolism, which seems very "stone" oriented, mayhap as a ward against the ongoing war between humanity and the weeping angels, that is fought within the dark corners of society.
Hang on... there's a knock at my door.
Well that's strange, it's just an angel statue outside my door... huh... weird...

Yeah... I just saw it... FANTASTIC!
As I've said before, I may not like their choice of actors for The Doctor, and I will miss Tennant, however, I am more than willing to give the new guy a chance. (I really was hoping that Davies was just yanking our chain on the whole regeneration thing... it would have been SO like him!)

Yeah Mr Tennent will be hard to follow! But i've enjoyed all the actors who played the doctor so far! ok it took me along while to get used to Colin Baker when he took the role in the 1980s! and the 1st McCoy season he was just the worst! But McCoy Season 25 and 26 made me really get back into Doctor Who again! The Series started to get back on track i thought! then it was canned! bah! oh well at least we are watching new episodes now!! hehe

Very true!
I got to meet Colin Baker last July, and OMG, he's such a sweet guy in person... I know there was a lot of talk about disagreements on set, and people not wanting to work with him, but, meeting him in person, I honestly don't see it... (I also got to meet Tennant, and Barrowman... and let's just say... Barrowman is indeed a good kisser... just saying is all... not that... ummm... NOTHING! *runs away*)

That would have been SWEET! I liked the potential of the Paul McGann "Doctor"... but unfortunately, they allowed ABC television too much control, and at that time, American television was very hung up about devoting half of a TV episode into character development (it was their new "formula".. spend act one establishing character, even if it's a pre-established character) as well as hung up about expressing a political viewpoint... In the case of ABC television, their two main political pets were gang problems in the US, and gun control... two problems the US doesn't really have, in my opinion... I mean, as for gang violence, that effects maybe one half of one percent of inner cities only... that's like saying that for every million Americans, one has been effected by some sort of gang related activity... and the US media liked to assign EVERYTHING as being gang related... a house is robbed, it must be gangs... kids wearing baggy clothing... gang related... somebody says "yo" (the US equivalent of "oiy") it has to be gang related...
As for gun control in America... once again, a non existent problem... with the exception of ONE shooting that made the news back in the 80s, because a guy bought a rifle from a store (that never did the background check... stores are required by law here to run a background check before allowing a purchase, and any criminal record, or any psychological record, and they cannot sell... and here's the rub... you pay for the gun first, then they run the check, and if you fail, they keep 25% of the money you paid, plus the $35 fee for the background check... so it doesn't pay for a criminal to try to purchase a gun legally) and other than that, every crime that has been committed with a gun in America that has ever made the news, the gun was obtained through illegal means... meaning, even if guns were illegal, it wouldn't have stopped the crime, because the guns were purchased outside of the country. In fact, the places where firearms are most prevalent, like Texas, and Arizona, those places have far less crime (seriously... who wants to rob a place if everyone is packing heat?)
But yeah.. the biggest problems that I saw with that Doctor Who, was the US involvement in the show... trying to preach a political point on gangs, and spending far too much time trying to establish all of the characters... and not enough time just telling a good story.
Plus, you also have to understand that ABC television (who had just been purchased by Disney) looked at Doctor Who as a show for children, and overweight nerd boys in their mother's basement... and marketed it as such... to the point that before it even aired, popular opinion made a lot of viewers feel they would be open to ridicule if they even expressed an interest in wanting to watch it.
It's only been recently, and thanks to Russel T. Davies, and the quality he's put into it, that Americans are just now starting to discover the show. Before, the only way to see Doctor Who was on PBS (PBS has a stigma in the US as being incredibly boring documentaries, heavy in political viewpoints, and extremely low budget shows) and has always been associated with characters like "Comic Book Guy" from the Simpsons (with his famous quote with the 100 tacos of "Yes... this should be adequate sustenance during the Doctor Who marathon..." and various other references to Doctor Who by that character)
So again, ABC had all of these things in mind when doing the Doctor Who episode with Paul McGann, and they really did NOT want it to succeed...

Yeah... the problem is, is that the networks... ABC, CBS, NBC, and even to a lesser extent Fox, are still thinking television with their heads in the 1950s... they simply don't know their audience (I say lesser extent to Fox, because though they do some really stupid stuff, they at least know what the Internet is, and KINDA how to use it... and they know their audience enough to sign shows like The Simpsons, and Family Guy, and have the good sense to bring back a show based on DVD sells, rather than Neilson ratings alone.)
That's another problem here... Neilson ratings give a bad view of a show's popularity, but, the system has been in place for so long, that even when a network knows that the system doesn't work, they are still bound by it for advertising dollars... prices for advertising is set by the Nielson system, and so a show can be the most popular in the world, but, if those select families that the Neilson ratings use aren't watching (and they choose Neilson families by an unrealistic, outdated, 1950s style of demographics) then the networks can't charge the right amount for advertising... and the shows end up getting "canned".
We have the technology for a better system, but in order for the networks to use anything else, they have to get the advertisers to sign on it, and advertisers will not sign on anything new, because accuracy would mean higher prices for ad space...

hehe well we have the same problems here but in the 1990s here in the UK worse tho! most of the TV shows were soaps, soaps, and cack really! look how long Dr Who took to come back!! hehe plus now Genre shows are being made here, like Primeval, Misfits, Being Human, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures, Survivors!
But yeah there needs to be a new system in the US and well as here in the UK. ours is called BARB. were a small select number of people get a box on the TV to record what there watching! thing is i have never met or met anyone who know anyone who had this happen to them! hehe

I loved Primeval... and I've been watching "Misfits" on my BBC feed since it started (not even BBC America will carry "Misfits", so it's fortunate that I can access BBC show as they air over there... as it is, the shows that BBC America does show come out a year after they do in UK, and are usually heavily edited, for both time, and content... they gotta run their commercials after all... and well... free speech doesn't really apply on television in the US... or radio... or public places... come to think of it... saying we have free speech is about all the free speech we get here...)
And of course, I am a Doctor Who fan, so of course I watch Torchwood, and Sarah Jane...

I'm affraid here in the UK things are getting bad for free speach! although its not as bad as some places!

This is very true... of course, over here, when free speech is stifled, those who stifle it (and sometimes those being stifled) will justify it by sighting other country's policies on free speech...
Personally, I think that "fuck" is just a word... one that, if over used, loses it's power... one that probably shouldn't be used in polite company, but, still just a word... a sound that has no meaning unless a person associates a meaning to it... and as a word, I think that people have the right to use it, or misuse it at will...
But more what irritates me, is opinion... there are a lot of opinions that are stifled as well... sure, the opinions may be wacky, and I may not agree with them, but, everyone has a right to their opinion. I disagree with most of what religions have to say, but, no matter how crazy it may seem to me, I do understand that such opinions are held dear to many, and they have that right to them... just as I see most politics to be a bit off... I mean hell, politics are all about dogma, and support to empower ones self, or another... but like religion, they are ideas that are held dear... and to think of suppressing another's ability, or right to say their opinion, or to even sway another into their thoughts, and opinions, is just simply wrong.
To loosely quote French Philosopher, and Statesman "Voltaire"... I may not agree with what you have to say, but, I will fight to the death your right to say it.

That goes in the line with "Bosses are like diapers... always on your ass, and always full of shit".
Ahhh... so many such sayings...
