The first of some updated looks for the Mystery Inc gang for the mini-series

Norville "Shaggy" Rogers

After having solved yet another mystery with his team, all Shaggy wanted was to take a little break for awhile. So it came as a very pleasant surprise when the professors of Takamoto University's ecological department picked his paper to represent their school at the Earth Summit at the Evergreen Hotel & Spa. When they arrive, they are greeted by some friends, who are also there for the Earth Summit event either as members of certain groups or are here as guests of the hotel, and multiple other guests from all around the world who have heard of and/or have witnessed their "brave acts".

Later after getting settling into their rooms, Mystery Inc. is greeted by the hotel's owner, Mr. Turner, who informs them of, well, a strange occurrence involving one of their art pieces. Shaggy, as well as Scooby, decides to not join his friends in checking out the strange occurrence and instead decides to explore the hotel, mainly the food and restaurant areas. While out exploring, they literally bump into a very frightened little girl. When trying to ask her what's wrong a thunderous crash is heard as a tree almost falls on the three. The trio is then chased by a strange looking machine that was pink and had a logo of a boar/pig head on it. Then, all of a sudden, the little girl trips on an uprooted tree root. This causes her to fall to the ground and into the path of the machine. However, before she is about to be crushed by the strange machine, she throws something to Shaggy and
tells him to put it on. Shaggy looked at the object and saw that it was a ring, specifically an emerald ring. Shaggy, following the girl's instructions, puts it on and suddenly a green light engulfs him and Scooby. When the light eventually fades, the girl was gone and the strange machine had been almost completely destroyed and also was flipped over.

So much for a normal vacation with no mysteries.
