This is so well done I say, totally worth those 5 hours of effort!

This is really amazing!!
If it isn't too much trouble, could you give me some advice on how to prevent Sculpey III from becoming sticky or breaking?

My goodness I'm sorry this is so late! I'll answer anything you want to know! I've honestly never had it get sticky on me, so I don't know what to say for that, but as for the breaking, in my experience it's been when the clay is old. When I buy a brand new pack from the store, it's usually a pretty good consistency.

Thank you for getting back to me!
Just one last thing: How do you cure your clay?
I usually boil mine because it's easier, but I fear that may be a partial cause of my figures' stickiness and breaking...

No problem! I usually just stick my figures in the oven anywhere from 18-30 minutes based on thickness and type of clay.

For a first try, this is astounding! You certainly have a knack for it - her bangles are incredibly smooth and round. Like a fellow Deviant said below me, the tails usually stay low unless she's giving a sassy flip XD. It looks like she had a little trouble keeping the base of her tail connected, which is always a spot of trouble for me as well.

My advice would be to smooth it on completely before baking, then carefully carve out the indent with a Xacto knife after baking and curing.

Unless the sculpture is in an "active" pose (Mid-jump, mid-trot, ect.), usually the tail is down- but honestly, it's simply personal preference and it doesn't distract very much from the rest of your hard work. Her eyes are incredibly smooth as well as her cutie mark, and the exceptional attention to detail on her mane speaks volumes about just how much time you put into it. It takes me at least ten hours to complete a sculpture of this quality, though, so my opinion may not account for much.

Sorry for the miniature critique, and great job for your first figure!

Oh no worries at all! I sincerely appreciate the critique! I was a little worried about it when I decided to sculpt the tail up instead of down, but definitely learned a lot for next time. And thank you so much for the overwhelming compliments and encouragement, I really appreciate it!
