Hi there!! I use a few different progs, but mainly Poser and Daz Studio. Daz Studio is available for free at [link] - maybe you should download it and have a go!! There are also lots of free products there, and at lots of other sites.......

The three images you've just faved were all rendered in Poser, then postworked in Paint Shop Pro. If you're new to 3d art, there is a bit of a learning curve, while you get used to lighting, etc, but it is great fun!

The horse is a 3d object originally created by Daz 3D, to which I applied body and head textures (created by an excellent horse artist) in Poser, which is a 3d virtual studio programme; I then posed the horse, set up the lighting and shadows, rendered and imported that image into Paint Shop Pro, a 2d photo manip prog. There I added numerous 2d hair and tail pieces (also created in this instance by the same horse artist) and a background, and then coloured/edited/altered/blended them to suit the horse and pose. To this I added flowers (which I had previously rendered and saved as transparent images), and created the waves and splashes with 'brushes'.
There are 32 layers in this particular image (just checked), which is probably slightly below average for one of my pics, and many of my images contain many more layers.

Hope this gives you some insight into how I created this piece. Very glad you like it!

No - this is a 3d render of the horse created in Poser Pro, postworked, plus multiple 2d layers added and blended in Paint Shop Pro.....
Nice to know you think it looks real enough to be a photo, if that's what you mean.......

The mane is from a 2d ready-painted layer set (tweaked and adapted by me in postwork in PSP9) [link]
I also used her (I think Laurie is a female name, !) texture and pose sets (My pose is based on one of her's....)

So glad you like it - I do adore horses!!

I checked out the poser Mat poses and have picked them up.. don't like 2d, as you know..

Horses, in your capable hands, are more beautiful than real life..well, YKWIM..

Very kind words indeed, Kind Sir!! Horses are such beautiful creatures in real life......it's nice to be able to emulate that a little!! More peeps should render horses IMHO - though they don't seem to be so very popular on dA, IYKWIM........
