Thank you!!
Ah yes, back in October last year Josh set his Twitter name to "Spooky Josh" for halloween and left it like that well into November when somebody told him that because it was no longer halloween, he should change his name so he did; to "Spooky Jim" and I suppose the nickname kinda stuck? Like, he only changed it back to "Jøsh Dun" when Blurryface was released (probably to make it all official looking)
But yeah, most of the clique refer to Josh as (DJ) Spooky Jim, Jishwa, Jish & of course Josh aha
Thanks again!! ^-^

You're welcome! And thank you for enlightening me on the whole Spooky Jim thing! I laughed when I read your explanation. "It's not Halloween anymore, change your name". So Spooky Jim it was...smartass.xD Thanks for the various nicknames, I feel like a better fan now.XD

Haha, thanks!
Um, what do you mean "problematic fave"?

Cynvii In reply to SIDFan1 [2015-07-01 16:56:48 +0000 UTC]
well general definition of the word is a favourite person who has "problematic"/immoral opinions and well when same-sex marriage was legalised across the US recently Tyler didn't tweet or say anything about it like most other musical artists and influential people had done & I think because of his strong Christianity, some of the clique were worried that he was homophobic (as well as being transphobic because he hadn't spoken out about his brother Zack faving transphobic tweets in regard to Caitlyn Jenner)
so some of the clique started harassing him to say something and everything got very heated and not very enjoyable on tumblr in particular until Tyler finally said something in a way of an apology but some of the clique didn't agree with how he'd worded it & felt like it was a poor excuse of an apology and that he'd only said something to get everyone off his back, so because all of this I wouldn't be surprised if some people started calling him their "problematic fave"

You have GOT to be kidding me! Tyler is seriously being harassed because he did NOTHING? And he's still be harassed after apologizing!? I always knew that the majority of my peers were disrespectful little twits, but this really takes the cake. A lot of people didn't tweet or say anything supportive about gay marriage being legalized. Just because Tyler is Christian does not mean he is homophobic. I should know, I'm a Christian too!
As for his brother Zack favoriting the Caitlyn Jenner tweets, why on earth is the Clique trying to get Tyler to answer to his brothers actions? How can they expect Tyler to take on his brothers and their political positions and still write music?
And the "problematic fave" is possibly the most self-righteous garbage I've ever heard. Who are they to decide that Tyler's unspoken position on certain things is problematic? He is not infringing on his fellow mans rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness by not flipping tweeting "#lovewins ".
I'm not directing any of this at you. I'm just very upset with the other members of the Clique that did this. And actually I thank you for telling me all this, because when I read it yesterday I became very fired up and wrote a 4 page essay about it. Which I intend to post on dA shortly after I clean it up a bit.

Ah it's cool, I was also pretty pissed that the clique had tried to call him out on not saying anything & then still find issues with his apology. Like, he even stated in his apology that he didn't tweet the hashtag because he, and I quote, "disliked seeing artists/bands/peers use the lovewins news to sell singles and tshirts"; he didn't want to cheapen the struggles the lgbt+ community had gone through to reach this milestone and to make a profit from it... and yet people still complained.
Like some people made very good points by saying that both Tyler and Josh are obviously not homophobic because they're supportive of all their fans and if I remember correctly, one of their favourite fan stories was one where someone found the courage to come out as gay to those around them because of tøp and their music; like, I'm pretty sure if either of them were homophobic they'd never even think of sharing that story with interviewers and fans???
Oh, and then there were a select few who were also complaining because Tyler never apologised for or spoke about all the anxiety and stress caused by the Blurryface marketing. Ugh.
Alas, no matter how strongly there appears to be evidence in favour of Tyler, people are still going to find issues and make him out to be a bad person and honestly? it saddens me that the clique has gotten like this; we all used to pride ourselves on being a close-knit family almost, of being able to support each other and it being a safe fanbase, but for some reason with the release of Blurryface, and the band becoming more known - things have just gotten awful. Like, some of the older fans have sometimes blamed old MCR fans who came into the clique after MCR split for all of the problems, but I think that's just gross of them to do - sadly it's just a thing with any fandom, especially when a large part of it is on tumblr (honestly that site is so toxic and gross, I'm not even sure why I'm still a part of it)
I just hate the phrase "problematic fave" altogether; like surely if they're that problematic that it warrants that "nickname" then maybe you should just reconsider who your faves are??
Ooh, I look forward to seeing this! I don't think I could get so passionate about anything to write that much, but hey, sounds cool!

Well I am somewhat relieved that you see the lunacy in all of this as well. It's infuriating that some people will go to all the trouble to harass someone, get their way, and then still bitch about it! I read his apology, and I totally agreed with his position on the # as well.
Oh wow, that's s funny that you mention their favorite fan encounter, because I just watched an interview with Tyler and Josh discussing that, like 5 minutes ago! Very good point you made too; why would they even mention that if they were homophobic? It's such a contradictory thing to do if they really are supportive of their fans.
Woah...the Blurryface thing that you mention...that's really off the deep end.O__o I guess this doesn't hold true for everyone, but Blurryface is actually really helping me cope with and address the things I'm stressed about. But I guess the people complaining are determined to be emo.
Sadly, as you said, no matter how much rational evidence there is, some people will choose to ignore with all their being. And it's so horribly disappointing. I understand what you're saying about the T|O|P fanbase becoming more like this with the release of Blurryface, with them gaining greater notoriety.
The MCR thing is totally ridiculous. Sure a lot of MCR fans are VERY obnoxious. But saying that MCR's breakup has inundated the Clique with old MCR fans is really crazy. It's not like a fandom is tangible in the sense that the members flock from one pasture to another. I don't know if that actually makes sense... But you can't blame the new toxicity of the Clique solely on T|O|P gaining fans, because the stability of a safe fanbase rests on your shoulders and attitude as much as it does everyone else.
Wow, you have such an excellent point about the "problematic fave". I read that sentence, then I read it again; then I laughed because you made such a indisputably terrific point!
The essay's up on dA now.sidfan1.deviantart.com/journal… It's pretty long, I got very fired up and the words just wouldn't stop flowing.XD

Same? Like when everyone was going on about it I was like "But... But Tyler doesn't have to say something? Like, it's not even his place to say something?" And I also agree with the whole hashtag situation kinda cheapening the struggle that the lgbtqa+ community went through & about how Tyler always talks about his personal struggles, things that he's been through; in basically every tweet, every interview & every song; he doesn't feel comfortable going outside of what he knows, especially knowing that so many people hang off his every word, which explains why he didn't say anything about the news?
Like once the album was released and people calmed down almost everyone was okay about it and started talking about how the album was helping them and how it was showing more of the band's journey through dark thoughts and whatnot; it was just the way the album was marketed that got people wound up. Like, I can understand where they're coming from in terms of feeling anxious about the character of Blurryface; the Twitter account set up for the character was erratic and slightly terrifying at times - but to go so far as to try and get Tyler to apologise for what was possibly the best album marketing campaign to date is a little much.
Honestly, sometimes I think that older tøp fans tried to scare away the newer fans with drama & then there were those few "seasoned" bandom bloggers on Tumblr who weren't even a major part of the clique who saw it as their place to call Tyler and Josh out on everything they did basically and to just try and prove that our faves were bad people.
I saw!! It's incredibly well written, well done!
