You should consider a tutorial to demonstrate your technique for making the image on the sidewalk!

its simply a plane primitive with an image as a diffuse and a black and white version for the opacity.
also, i'm using octane plug-in and havent touched Iray at all so i wouldnt be able to say much more for those specific - my best advice: play with every button until they start to make sense to you ^^ (documentation also helps)
